How is the Quran a perfect book when it relies on hadiths to explain how to pray? Prayer is a mandatory practice for Muslims and one of the pillars of Islam so why is the proper way to pray not explained in detail in the Quran? Why must a Muslim learn to pray from a hadith rather than the Quran? This is something that has bothered me greatly for sometime now, can you please shed some light? It is very confusing and disheartening. Yes, this is a serious question for me.

Does the quran mention sperm and ovaries, and their role in reproduction? I've heard the quran talks about semen (liquid) and blood, neither of which have any role at all in creating life. When babies are created in laboratories (test tube babies), no semen or blood is involved; however, sperm (which is a cell, not a liquid) and an ovary are essential. What is the chronological order of the chapters of the quran? I know it is not put together choronologically and am wondering if instead of reading from the beginning to end if I read it chronologically then what appears to me to be contradictions may make more sense. What is the benefit of counting letters and dots inside Al Quran? I just find it's ridiculous to find some people are fighting because they have different result after counting letters and dots and Ayah. The Quran..................? There is so much bickering back and forth between Muslims and Christians on here. Keep in mind when I ask this question, it is for a good point to be made. I am open minded and appreciate learning about others' religions, cultures etc. For the people out there who say the "Quran" is bad/evil - bad teachings, whatever --- please specify and quote the part the this book that teaches/promotes hatred. Is the Quran credible? Is the Quran credible? Besides religious guidance, the Quran contains hundreds of verses that speak of the universe, its components and phenomena such as the Earth, the sun, the moon, the stars, mountains, wind, running water, plants, embryological animals, and the successive stages of development of the human being. More than 1,000 verses relating to cosmic facts or cosmic phenomena can be counted in the Quran. During the early days of the Quran, scientific knowledge of the universe was limited and it was not easy to elaborate on the verses relating to the universe or its phenomena except within the limitations of the time. However, we now know about the laws of the universe much more than before and that is why reviewing the 1,000 or more verses relating to the cosmos, man and his surroundings can be one of the most obvious miraculous aspects of the Quran. This is because of the precedence of the Quran, which was revealed more than 14 Centuries ago, with many of the scientific facts, at a time when people had no knowledge whatsoever of such facts. The Quran has addressed so many of these facts in a language that is more precise, accurate and concise than scientists have ever been able to do. Nothing in the Quran contradicts any established scientific facts. These cannot be all covered in a short article and hence I have chosen only five verses that can testify to the miraculous nature of the Quran from a scientific point of view: 1) The creation of the universe is explained by astrophysicists in a widely accepted phenomenon, popularly known as the “Big Bang.” It is supported by observational and experimental data gathered by astronomers and astrophysicists for decades. According to the “Big Bang,” the whole universe was initially one big mass (Primary Nebula). Then there was a “Big Bang” (Secondary Separation), which resulted in the formation of Galaxies. These then divided to form stars, planets, the sun, the moon, etc. The origin of the universe was unique and the probability of it occurring by “chance” is zero. The Quran contains the following verse, regarding the origin of the universe: Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were (once) a joined entity, then We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe? (Quran, 21:30) The striking congruence between the Quranic verse and the “Big Bang” is inescapable! How could a book, which first appeared in the deserts of Arabia 1400 years ago, contain this profound scientific truth? 2) In 1925 an American astronomer by the name of Edwin Hubble provided observational evidence that all galaxies are receding from one another, which implies that the universe is expanding. The expansion of the universe is now an established scientific fact. This is what the Quran says regarding the formation of the universe: And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander. (Quran, 51:47) Stephen Hawking, in his book A Brief History of Time, says: “The discovery that the universe is expanding is one of the great intellectual revolutions of the 20th century.” The Quran mentioned the expansion of the universe before man even learnt to build a telescope! 3) Scientists say that before the galaxies in the universe were formed, celestial matter was initially in the form of gaseous matter. In short, huge gaseous matter or clouds were present before the formation of the galaxies. To describe initial celestial matter, the word “smoke” is more appropriate than gas. The following Quranic verse refers to this state of the universe by the word dukhan which means smoke: Then He turned to the heaven when it was smoke... (Quran, 41:11) Again, this fact is a corollary to the “Big Bang” and was not known to mankind during the time of the Prophet Muhammad . What then, could have been the source of this knowledge? 4) It was thought that the sense of feeling and pain was only dependent on the brain. Recent discoveries prove that there are pain receptors present in the skin without which a person would not be able to feel pain. When a doctor examines a patient suffering from burn injuries, he verifies the degree of burns by a pinprick. If the patient feels pain, the doctor is happy, because it indicates that the burns are superficial and the pain receptors are intact. On the other hand if the patient does not feel any pain, it indicates that it is a deep burn and the pain receptors have been destroyed. The Quran gives an indication of the existence of pain receptors in the following verse: Indeed, those who disbelieve in Our verses (i.e. signs, proofs) - We will drive them into a Fire. Every time their skins are roasted through We will replace them with other skins so they may taste the punishment. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted in Might and Wise. But those who believe and do righteous deeds - We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide forever. (Quran, 4:56-57) Prof. Tagatat Tejasen, Chairman of the Dept. of Anatomy at Chiang Mai University in Thailand, had spent a great amount of time on research of pain receptors. Initially he could not believe that the Quran mentioned this scientific fact 1400 years ago. He later verified the translation of this particular Quranic verse. Prof. Tejasen was so impressed by the scientific accuracy of the Quranic verse, that at a medical Conference in 1985 he proclaimed in public the Shahadah (Islamic Declaration of Faith), i.e. he embraced Islam. 5) The source of iron (Fe); we read in the Quran: Indeed, We have sent down iron in which there is great (military) might and benefits for the people. (Quran, 57:25) It has recently been proven that all iron, not only in our planet but also in the entire solar system, was obtained from outer space. This is because the temperature of the sun cannot generate iron. The sun has a surface temperature of 6000 degrees Celsius and a central temperature of about 20 million degrees Celsius. There exists much hotter stars, which are known as novae, or super novae where temperatures can reach 100s of billions of degrees Celsius and it is in these stars that iron is formed. When the percentage of iron reaches a certain proportion of the mass of the star it explodes and these exploded-particles travel in space until they are captured by the gravitational fields of other heavenly bodies. This is how our solar system all obtained its iron and it is an established fact today that all the iron in our solar system was not generated or created within the system but has come to it from outer space. One wonders why the Quran comments on matters like these, things that were not known to anyone at the time of revelation or even for centuries afterwards, unless Allah knows in His eternal knowledge that the time will come when man will then immediately realize that the Quran is the word of Allah and that Muhammad is His last messenger. Allah says in the Quran: We shall show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. (Quran, 41:53) Prof. Tejasen accepted Islam on the strength of just one scientific “sign” mentioned in the Quran. Some people may require ten signs while some may require hundred signs to be convinced about the Divine origin of the Quran. Some would be unwilling to accept the Truth even after being shown a thousand signs. The Quran condemns such a closed mentality: Deaf, dumb and blind- so they will not return [to the right path]. (Quran, 2:18). Also: The example of those who disbelieve is like that of the one who shouts at what hears nothing but calls and cries [i.e. cattle or sheep] - deaf, dumb and blind, so they do not understand. (Quran, 2:171). And: Then do they not reflect upon the Quran, or are there locks upon [their] hearts? (Quran, 47:24).
The Mathematical Miracle of # 19 in the Quran! any truth to this? "Mathematics is the language with which God has written the universe" (Galileo) Chapter 74 of the Quran, God's Final Testament, is dedicated to the number 19. The name of that chapter is "Al-Muddassir" (The Hidden Secret). The number 19 is specifically mentioned in that Chapter as a punishment for those who state that the scripture is human-made (74:25), and proclaims that the 19 is "One of the greatest" (74:35). In 74:31, the purpose of the number 19 is spelled out: to remove all doubt regarding the authenticity of the Quran, increase the faith of the believers, and to be a scientific punishment for hypocrites and disbelievers. However, the implication of this number as a proof for the authenticity of the Quran remained unknown for centuries. For fourteen centuries, the commentators tried in vain to understand the function and fulfilment of the number 19. In 1974, the Lord of the universe unveiled the secret of number 19 to Dr. Rashad Khalifa, an Egyptian-American biochemist. His four-year long computerized study on the Quran did not have any expected target. Surprisingly, he discovered the mathematically intertwined structure by "chance." This multifold interlocked mathematical design is a message in universal language. This message, providing a built-in physical evidence of its divine source, leaves no doubt in our heart that the Quran is The Final Testament. Before the secret is decoded Before the discovery of 19-based system, we knew a symmetrical mathematical system in the Quran. For example: © The word "month" (shahr) occurs 12 times. © The word "day" (yawm) occurs 365 times. © The word "days" (ayyam,yewmeyn) occurs 30 times. © The words "satan" (shaytan) and "angel" (malak), both occur 88 times. © The words "this world" (dunya) and "hereafter" (ahirah), both occur 115 times. Simple to understand, impossible to imitate The mathematical structure of the Final Testament is simple to understand and impossible to imitate. You do not need to know Arabic, the original language of the Quran to examine it for yourself. Basically what you need is to be able to count upto19. Dr. Khalifa introduces this supernatural message as follows: The Quran is characterized by a unique phenomenon never found in any human authored book. Every element of the Quran is mathematically composed-the chapters, the verses, the words, the number of certain letters, the number of words from the same root, the number and variety of divine names, the unique spelling of certain words, and many other elements of the Quran besides its content. There are two major facets of the Quran's mathematical system: (1) The mathematical literary composition, and (2) The mathematical structure involving the numbers of chapters and verses. Because of this comprehensive mathematical coding, the slightest distortion of the Quran's text or physical arrangement is immediately exposed (Quran The Final Testament, Translated by Rashad Khalifa, Islamic Productions, Tucson, 1989, p 609). Nineteen, as the mathematical code of the Quran, is a challenge for atheists, an invitation for agnostics and a guidance for believers. It is a perpetual miracle for the computer generation. It is the light of the morning promised by God Almighty (74:33). Physical, examinable divine proof Here is the summary of this historical discovery: © The first verse, i.e., the opening statement "Bismillahirrahmanirrahim", shortly "Basmalah," consists of 19 Arabic letters. © The first word of Basmalah, Ism (name) occurs in the Quran 19 times. © The second word of Basmalah, Allah (God) occurs 2698 times, or 19x142. © The third word of Basmalah, Rahman (Gracious) occurs 57 times, or 19x3. © The fourth word of Basmalah, Rahim (Merciful) occurs 114 times, or 19x6. Although this phenomenon (the opening statement consists of 19 letters, and each word occurs in multiple of 19) represents a minute portion of the code, it was described by Martin Gardner in the Scientific American as "ingenious" (September, 1981, p. 22-24) © The multiplication factors of the words of the Basmalah (1+142+3+6) add up to 152 or 19x8. © The Quran consists of 114 chapters, which is 19x6. © The total number of verses in the Quran including all Basmalahs is 6346, or 19x334. If you add the digits of that number, 6+3+4+6 equals 19. © The Basmalah occurs 114 times, (despite its conspicuous absence from chapter 9, it occurs twice in chapter 27) and 114 is 19x6. © From the missing Basmalah of chapter 9 to the extra Basmalah of chapter 27, there are precisely 19 chapters. © It follows that the sum of the chapter numbers from 9 to 27 (9+10+11+12.......+26+27) is 342. This total (342) also equals the number of words between the two Basmalahs of chapter 27, and 342 equals 19x18. © The occurrence of the extra Basmalah is in 27:30. The number of the chapter and the verse add up to 57, or 19x3. © Each letter of the Arabic alphabet corresponds to a number according to their original sequence in the alphabet. The Arabs were using this system for calculations. When the Quran was revealed 14 centuries ago, the numbers known today did not exist. A universal system was used where the letters of the Arabic, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek alphabets were used as numerals. The number assigned to each letter is its "Gematrical Value." The numerical values of the Arabic alphabet are shown below: A study on the gematrical values of about 200 attributes of God which are mentioned in the Quran, shows that only four names have gematrical values which are multiples of 19. These are "Wahid" (One), "Zul Fadl al Azim" (Possessor of Infinite Grace), "Majid" (Glorous), "Jaami" (Summoner). Furthermore, in this section there are 152 words, but if you add Ashrei temimei derekh there are 158 words. This is nonsense, for it is a great and hidden secret why there should be 152 words . . ." There are primarily four possible explanations: 1) Manipulation: You may be skeptical about our data regarding the mathematical structure of Quran. However, you can eliminate this option in several hours by random checking of our detailed computer print out. Also the last statement seems to be too optimistic, at least for the time being. Already millions of Muslims have rejected the mathematical code based on the presupposition that the Creator of the universe won't employ mathematics in his book. And born-again Christians are ready to coin it as Anti Christ. However, this mathematically coded message promises a new era in the world of religions. It does not only provide an examinable evidence for the existence of God, it also expose the widespread corruption plagued all the organized religions. This mathematical code suggests (as it is published in our numerous books) a "Copernican revolution" in theology of religions. Instead of Krishna-centered, or Jesus-centered, or Muhammad-centered religions we must turn to the original center, to the God-centered model. Consequently, when they see every kind of miracle they will not believe. And when they see the path of guidance they will not adopt it as their path, but when they see the path of straying they will adopt it as their path. This is the consequence of their rejecting our revelations, and of being totally heedless thereof. Why do your ancient scholars (Fahreddin er Razi, Qurtubi etc.) who counted the letters of Basmalah agree on 19 letters? Why after the discovery of the miracle do you refute your respected ancient scholars? c) 786 is the gematrical value of Basmalah used by Muslims to represent the Basmalah. How many letters does this famous number represent? d) Why do you fail in counting the 19 letters of Basmalah which is a very simple and very obvious physical fact? e) Almighty God in 74:31 gives us a list of functions of the number "19". This is what "19" will do: 1) Disturb the disbelievers. 2) Establish certainty in the hearts of the believers, the Jews, and the Christians, concerning the divine origin of the Quran. 3) Strengthen the faith of the faithful. 4) Remove all doubt from the hearts of the believers, and the Jews, and the Christians. 5) Expose the hypocrites and the disbelievers who claim with their lip service to be believers; they will not accept the 19-based miracle. What makes Muslims believe that Quran is not written by Prophet Muhammad? Does the Quran claim that it is from God? Could the Prophet have copied some portions of the Bible? For a detailed account please refer to Who wrote the Quran? AND Science and the Quran Muslims believe that Prophet Muhammad is not the author of the Quran. God is the author. The following points bear the fact: 1. The Quran itself, at a number of places and in different ways, says it is from God. One of the claim runs thus: "This is indeed a Quran most honourable, a Book well-guarded...a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds." (56:77-80) 2. The Prophet did not claim credit for the Quran. Furthermore, the Quran claims: "This Quran is not such as can be produced by anyone other than God." (10:37) 3. The Prophet was illiterate. He was not a learned man or a philosopher. 4. The Quran took 23 years to complete. Had the verses of the Quran (6,666 altogether) been written by the Prophet, he would have needed editing, updating, etc. He did not have spell-check, thesaurus, etc. Yet all the information in the Quran is consistent and without discrepancies. The verses were taken down as dictate by the Prophet only once and no redrafting, editing or updating took place after that. 5. If the Prophet had written the Quran, he would not have made the challenges that are in the Quran, for fear that the learned Arabs and eminent poets of his time would have taken up his challenges and shamed him. "And if you are in doubt as to what We have revealed (from time to time) to Our servant (Muhammad), then produce a chapter like thereunto..." (2:23) 6. If the Prophet had written such an inimitable Book of Information and Wisdom without resorting to consultation with prominent scholars and the best books from the best libraries in the world?! If he did this, it would surely have been known, since every move he made was known to people. The Prophet was a historical figure, not a mythological figure. 7. The Prophet was the busiest most active person in history. So how could he have found the time to write (even if he were educated) such a comprehensive and extensive Book of Guidance which would have needed years of seclusion and concentration to complete? 8. In Chapter 111, it is mentioned that Abu Lahab, one of the Prophet's uncles who was always against Islam, would never accept Islam. This Revelation came some ten years before the death of Abu Lahab. How could the Prophet have dared to write this chapter because all he (Abu Lahab) needed to do to prove that Quran was not the words of God, was to accept Islam dishonestly? 9. The Prophet was mentioned by name in the Quran only 5 times whereas Jesus Christ's name was (honourably) mentioned 25 times. Could the Prophet go to such an extent of honouring someone more than himself if he had written the Quran? 10. There is a chapter in the Quran entitled and dedicated to "Mary", the mother of Jesus Christ, while there is no chapter called, or dedicated to, the prophet's own mother, "Amina", or daughter, "Fatima", nor were their names mentioned in the Quran. Could this have happened if the Prophet was the Author of the Quran? 11. Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, is glorified in the Quran as a "woman of all nations". Why would the Prophet glorify a woman he had never seen and one from another race, saying that she was chosen (by God) above all women, unless the formation of the verses had nothing to do with the Prophet's own authorship but that he only repeated what was inspired to him by God? 12. In the Quran, God is called "Allah" and (in arabic) he is also referred to by his attributes, like the Cherisher, the Merciful, the Almighty. There are 99 such attributes but none of these is "Abba" (father) by which the Arab Christians of the Prophet's time (and even today) refer to God. If the Prophet was the writer of the Quran, he would surely have used "Abba" as one of the names for God because of its familiarity and also because it was easier to say "Abba" than many of the attributes.

Quran V Evolution: How old is the earth? The Bible provides a chronology of history that extends back to the creation of Adam and Eve and to the creation of the earth. From this chronology it is possible to determine the date of the creation and hence the age of the earth. Archbishop Ussher of Armagh (1581-1657) had calculated the year of creation to be 4004 BC If that was not precise enough, Dr. Lightfoot of Cambridge worked out that the exact time when God completed His creation was 9 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 4004 BC (see the book 7whinking about God by Sr. R. W. Maqsood, p. 63). Many religious groups and sects have used this date in predicting precise dates for the end of the world, but all such predictions have so far proved erroneous. The one fact against them is that the world is still intact and we are very much alive. One reason al1 of those predictions failed is that they are calculated from a false date of creation. If 4004 BC was the year of creation, that would make the earth less than six thousand years old. No scientist can accept this today. Modern scientists estimate that the earth is 4.5 billion years old with a maximum error of 2.2 % (see The Bible, the Quran and Science, p. 148). Knowing this, many educated people lost faith in religion. They naturally felt that the Word of God should not contain errors of this kind. Others maintain that the Word of God was meant to teach only that truth which God wanted put into the scriptures for our salvation It if therefore immaterial if the book contains historical or scientific errors. As the scientist Galileo put it, the Bible is there to teach people how to go to heaven; it is not there to teach people how the heavens go. Some maintain, therefore, that it is understandable that the book will contain some historical and scientific errors since it was written by human beings who lived a long time ago and did not share our modern knowledge. The Quran, on the other hand, does not contain any historical or scientific or any kind of error. God challenges us to test this claim by examining the book for ourselves (see Quran 4:82). The Quran does not repeat the incorrect biblical chronology we have seen above. The Quran does not give a chronology since its purpose is not to provide us with the details of history, but only to teach us the lessons arising from specific events in history. The Quran does, however tell us that God measured the sustenance of the earth in four periods (Quran 41 :10). As to what could be the significance of these four periods, Dr. Bucaille comments as follows: "One could perhaps see in them the four geological periods described by modern science, with man's appearance, as we already know, taking place in the quaternary era. This is purely a hypothesis since nobody has an answer to this question" (The Bible, the Quran and Science, p. 150). How did the author of the Quran avoid the mistake in chronology committed by so many others, and believed in by so many others even up to our present day? Could a man in the seventh century have known that the earth was much more than six thousand years old? How could he come by this modern knowledge unless God was revealing knowledge to him?
The word "Proof" in the Quran and its miracle? It is not a surprise that the word "PROOF" (Bayyinah) in the Quran follows the same mathematical miracle (proof) of the Quran that is based on the number 19 as mentioned in sura 74. At the age of 38, Dr R. Khalifa discovered that the number 19 is the foundation of the mathematical miracle of the Quran. The momentous discovery that "19" is the Quran's common denominator of the Mathematical Miracle of the Quran became a reality in January 1974, coinciding with Zul-Hijjah 1393 A.H. The Quran was revealed in 13 B.H. (Before Hijrah). This makes the number of years from the revelation of the Quran to the revelation of its miracle (in 1974) 1393+13=1406 lunar years. 1406 = 19 X 74. The only time number 19 was mentioned in the Quran is in sura 74. The correlation between 19X74 lunar years and 1974 solar years could not escape notice, especially with number 19 mentioned in sura 74. Sura 98 is called "The Proof" (Al-Bayyinah). The word "Al-Bayyinah" (the Proof) is repeated in the whole Quran 19 times. This word "the Proof" is so important, since it enforces the purpose of the Mathematical Miracle of the Quran to represent the proof of the authorship of the Quran by Almighty God. We would expect Sura 19 to carry some of these manifestations of this miracle that is built on number 19 as does the rest of the Quran. (1) being the number 19 Sura, God Almighty gave it the longest set of initials, consisting of five letters, K,H,Y,'A,S. (2)The letter "K" occurs in sura 19 , 137 times, "H" occurs 175 times. "Y" occurs 343 times, "'A" occurs 117 times and "S" (Saad) occurs 26 times. Thus the total occurrence of the five letters is 137+175+343+117+26=798=19X42 (3) Sura 19 has 98 verses and the word "God" is mentioned 8 times in this Sura. Number 98 is actually the gematrical (Numerical) value of the Arabic word "Al-Bayyinah" or the "Proof " in English. "Al-Bayyinah" is the name of Sura 98 in the Quran. (Is this a coincidence). This Sura has 8 verses, another coincidence?!!. More significant is the fact that , the word "'Bayyinah" occurs in the Quran 19 times. One more coincidence?!!. Remember that the word "Bayyinah " in Arabic means the proof. That is exactly the function of the mathematical miracle of the Quran. Remember also that God , the Omnipotent has no co-incidence in the Universe He created and control. Praise be to God. P.S. : Number 19 and 8 are very much related to one another. 19 is the 8th prime number. Prime numbers are those numbers that are divisible only by themselves and by number one, (2,3,5,7,11,13,17,19,...) Modern science tells us that, the formation of human embryo is a seamless continuation from conception to birth; hence there are no hard- and- fast boundaries of stages as Quran describes. Quran describes 4 stages, which matches exactly with Galenic description of development of human embryo (which was proved wrong by modern science).
THE LEGEND OF QuRAN? In these existing conditions, Muhammad started inventing his own religion after 610 A.D. when he appointed himself as Allah’s apostle and messenger, as stated in the Quran (not as a prophet) and claimed that the Angel Gabriel ordered him thus (without any witnesses to his claim). Muhammad gathered a concoction of about 10% of Babylonian Talmud (not the Torah of Judaism, but with numerous errors/etc); about 5% of Christianity (a few parts of the Gospel, but distorted and erroneous, probably gathered from Mary his Coptic slave, and Waraqa, his wife Khadija’s Christian cousin, and during his travels to Syria); about 25% of existing Hindu temples/Allah/idols/rituals and beliefs in Saudi Arabia. (The word ‘Allah’ is a Sanskrit word and in truth, there is no Islamic Allah); about 10% of Animism (spirits, demons, Jinns, devils, spirits, etc) gathered from existing Arab folklore and mythical tales; about 10% of Arabic traditions and culture, and 40% of Muhammad and his companions’ own barbaric creations, to make up Islam, his new religion. Since Muhammad and his several hundred companions were completely illiterate (could not read or write) and Muhammad had a poor memory; thus, his companions memorized for him the Quranic verses they plagiarized/concocted. But in the battle of Yamamah, almost all his companions were killed and the original Quranic verses were lost forever and was never compiled in writing before Muhammad himself was killed by food poisoning in 632 A.D. by a Jewish slave, who said, “If you are a true Apostle, Allah would have saved you”. Caliph Abu Bakr (632-634A.D.) then entrusted Zayed Ibn Thabit to compile the Quran, from memories of Muhammad’s illiterate wives, concubines, slaves, and a few contacts; who claimed to have heard Muhammad and his companions utter various verses. Zayed managed to gather an estimated 7,900 verses. But this first compilation of the Quran, with numerous contradictions, ridicule, confusions, and errors, created a lot of trouble and huge problems arose over the years. Under the caliphate of Uthman (644-656 A.D.), he was compelled to withdraw all the distributed, handwritten copies of the Qurans and burnt them. Zayed was again ordered for the second time, to recompile and re-edit the Quran more sensibly and convincingly from his original Quran, kept with Hafsa (Muhammad’s widow). Zayed did the best he could in re-editing the Quran and more than 2,000 contradictory, confusing, erroneous and illogical verses were abrogated (cancelled), some were replaced, and others added/borrowed to make sense of the cancellations/replacements. This re-edited Quran in Sura 16:101-103 says Arabs accused a Christian slave of teaching Muhammad and was persecuted, and 25:4-5 confirms accusations of borrowing stories from Folktales, and Fables by the then Arabs. Abu Al-Aswad Al Doaly put dots as syntactical marks, during the time of Mu'awiya Ibn Abi Sufian (661-680 A.D). The letters were marked with different dotting by Nasr Ibn Asem and Hayy ibn Ya'amor, during the time of Abd Al-Malek Ibn Marawan (685-705 A.D). A complete system of diacritical marks, (damma, fataha, kasra,), were newly created by Al Khaleel Ibn Ahmad Al Faraheedy (d. 786 A.D). Now the Quran stands at only 6,241 verses today from its original 7,900. But given the circumstances prevailing in those days and the fact that compiling from various uneducated peoples’ memories, etc; this concocted manmade Quran, still have a lot of contradictions, confusions, absurdities, illogicalities, ridicule, errors, unscientific theories, etc. (For details, see ‘A dialogue between a Christian and a Muslim about the Quran’ and ‘A balanced understanding of Islam’ in this website). So a lot of people did have a hand in inventing the Quran. Thus, the bulk of the verses of today’s Quran, are actually from Muhammad’s wives, concubines, temporary wives, slaves and was edited by Zayed Ibn Thabit (it has nothing to do with God).
Who is the author of the Quran? Evidences on the Authenticity of the Quran? Whatever the arguments of the non-believer critics, the Quran states explicitly: “(This is) revelation of the book in which there is no doubt, from the Lord of the worlds. Or do they say he has forged it? Nay it is the truth from the Lord.” (32:2-3) From the time of its revelation till today, people have tried to cast doubts about the Divinity of the Holy Quran, and have tried to argue in vain that the author of the Quran is Prophet Muhammad himself; but they have not succeeded because of its inherent truth. Our study of the Qur'an acquaints us with a distinguishing characteristic of this holy book. This distinguishing characteristic is the absolute authenticity of its source. That is, without the slightest need of any comparison between the oldest manuscripts, it is evident that what we recite as the verses of the Holy Qur'an, are exactly the same words presented before the world by the Almighty Allah (swt) through His messenger Muhammad ibn Abdallah (saww). In another words, the distinguished feature of the Qur'an is the quality of its contents: its teachings are genuinely original and have not been adopted or plagiarized. Its teachings have been delivered to the Prophet from a world that transcends his thought and mind. The Prophet (saww) was only a recipient of this revelation and message. As Allah says: “. . . and those who are firmly rooted in knowledge say: We believe in it, it is all from our Lord." (3 :7). This paper attempts to present several logical arguments, textual analysis, historical evidence and scientific data to prove that the ‘Source of Quran is God’, in a simple way for Madrassa teachers to use as a Resource paper in the subject. Due to magnitude of the subject matter, this paper will limit itself to one angle of discussion only: simple and straight forward evidences to prove the “Authenticity of the Quran as a Word of God”. However, separate study paper will be required to discuss and make critical review and refutation of : “Authorship theories on the source of Quran as forwarded by the unbelievers”, as the biased unbelievers have forwarded several baseless theories on the authorship of Quran, which require a detailed critique. Similarly, altogether separate study papers are needed on the following themes: · Evidences on the “Originality and Genuineness of the Quran”, i.e. Quran has remained immune against any type of interpolation or transfiguration in its text and even its arrangement, contrary to other revealed books. · A study on “Comparison between Quran and the other revealed books”. · A paper on “Process of Revelation, Compilation and Preservation of Quran”. As the opponents want us to believe, the Holy Quran is not the product of the holy Prophet’s speculation and thinking, rather it is a revealed book in which every word is the word of the Almighty that was communicated to the Prophet through the process of revelation. While historical testimony in this regard is unquestionable, the Quran emphasizes it further with a view of showing the opponents of Islam that what came out from the sacred lips of the Prophet was a divine revelation: “(This is) the revelation of the book in which there is no doubt, from the Lord of the worlds. Will they say: ‘He has forged it!’ Nay, it is the Truth from the Lord ...”. (32:2-3) “But Allah bears witness that what He has revealed to you (O Muhammad), He has revealed from His own knowledge, and the angels bear witness (to it), but sufficient is Allah for witness”. (4:166). “And you (O Muhammad) did not recite any book before this, nor you were able to transcribe one with your right hand. In that case, indeed those who talk vanity could have doubted.” (29:48).

Every scientist and researcher is liable to change from time to time, his attitude to scientific topics under investigation and the opinions he bases on them. Relying on the knowledge and conclusions he has accumulated, he may express a certain opinion on a given topic at one time and later repudiate that opinion in the light of continuing and more extensive research and the solution of certain problems. However, as regards to Quran, although it was revealed over a period of twenty three years, it is completely uniform and lacking in contradiction. The uniformity, unity and the consistency of the ideas in the Quran signify its coming from the Unique One, Allah (swt). Quran says: “Do they not reflect on the Quran? "The creation of the heavens (khalq as-samawat)" is also repeated seven times. "Day (yawm)" is repeated 365 times in singular form, while its plural and dual forms "days (ayyam and yawmayn)" together are repeated 30 times. The number of repetitions of the word "month" (shahar) is 12. The number of repetitions of the words "plant" and "tree" is the same: 26 The word "payment or reward" is repeated 117 times, while the expression "forgiveness" (mughfirah), which is one of the basic morals of the Qur'an, is repeated exactly twice that amount, 234 times. When we count the word "Say," we find it appears 332 times. We arrive at the same figure when we count the phrase "they said." what did The Quran mention on Human Embryonic Development? The Quran on Human Embryonic Development: In the Holy Quran, God speaks about the stages of man’s embryonic development: We created man from an extract of clay. Then We made him as a drop in a place of settlement, firmly fixed. Then We made the drop into an alaqah (leech, suspended thing, and blood clot), then We made the alaqah into a mudghah (chewed substance)... 1 (Quran, 23:12-14) Literally, the Arabic word alaqah has three meanings: (1) leech, (2) suspended thing, and (3) blood clot. In comparing a leech to an embryo in the alaqah stage, we find similarity between the two2 as we can see in figure 1. Also, the embryo at this stage obtains nourishment from the blood of the mother, similar to the leech, which feeds on the blood of others.3 Figure 1: Drawings illustrating the similarities in appearance between a leech and a human embryo at the alaqah stage. The second meaning of the word alaqah is “suspended thing.” This is what we can see in figures 2 and 3, the suspension of the embryo, during the alaqah stage, in the womb of the mother. Also during this stage, the blood in the embryo does not circulate until the end of the third week.5 Thus, the embryo at this stage is like a clot of blood. The external appearance of the embryo and its sacs is similar to that of a blood clot, due to the presence of relatively large amounts of blood present in the embryo. So the three meanings of the word alaqah correspond accurately to the descriptions of the embryo at the alaqah stage. The next stage mentioned in the verse is the mudghah stage. The Arabic word mudghah means “chewed substance.” If one were to take a piece of gum and chew it in his or her mouth and then compare it with an embryo at the mudghah stage, we would conclude that the embryo at the mudghah stage acquires the appearance of a chewed substance. This is because of the somites at the back of the embryo that “somewhat resemble teethmarks in a chewed substance.”6 (see figures 5 and 6). How could Muhammad have possibly known all this 1400 years ago, when scientists have only recently discovered this using advanced equipment and powerful microscopes which did not exist at that time? Hamm and Leeuwenhoek were the first scientists to observe human sperm cells (spermatozoa) using an improved microscope in 1677 (more than 1000 years after Muhammad ). They mistakenly thought that the sperm cell contained a miniature preformed human being that grew when it was deposited in the female genital tract.7 Professor Emeritus Keith L. Moore8 is one of the world’s most prominent scientists in the fields of anatomy and embryology and is the author of the book entitled The Developing Human, which has been translated into eight languages. This book is a scientific reference work and was chosen by a special committee in the United States as the best book authored by one person. Dr. Keith Moore is Professor Emeritus of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada. There, he was Associate Dean of Basic Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine and for 8 years was the Chairman of the Department of Anatomy. In 1984, he received the most distinguished award presented in the field of anatomy in Canada, the J.C.B. Grant Award from the Canadian Association of Anatomists. He has directed many international associations, such as the Canadian and American Association of Anatomists and the Council of the Union of Biological Sciences. In 1981, during the Seventh Medical Conference in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, Professor Moore said: “It has been a great pleasure for me to help clarify statements in the Quran about human development. It is clear to me that these statements must have come to Muhammad from God, because almost all of this knowledge was not discovered until many centuries later. Consequently, Professor Moore was asked the following question: “Does this mean that you believe that the Quran is the word of God?” He replied: “I find no difficulty in accepting this.”10 During one conference, Professor Moore stated: “....Because the staging of human embryos is complex, owing to the continuous process of change during development, it is proposed that a new system of classification could be developed using the terms mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah (what Muhammad said, did, or approved of). The proposed system is simple, comprehensive, and conforms with present embryological knowledge. The intensive studies of the Quran and hadeeth (reliably transmitted reports by the Prophet Muhammad’s companions of what he said, did, or approved of) in the last four years have revealed a system for classifying human embryos that is amazing since it was recorded in the seventh century A.D. Although Aristotle, the founder of the science of embryology, realized that chick embryos developed in stages from his studies of hen’s eggs in the fourth century B.C., he did not give any details about these stages. As far as it is known from the history of embryology, little was known about the staging and classification of human embryos until the twentieth century. For this reason, the descriptions of the human embryo in the Quran cannot be based on scientific knowledge in the seventh century. Question regarding Islam/Quran...False Religion? I've been reading a lot about the faith of Islam since it has been in the news a lot lately here in the US. I'm going to go ahead and say it...I am not a Muslim. However, I want to know and understand the faith, so that is why I am proposing these questions. There are so many questions I have about the Quran, but I'll start with this: the Quran teaches that the Bible/Torah is correct and not to dispute it. (Quran 5:68, 29:46). However, this cannot be, since the Quran contradicts the Jewish/Christian sources. Muslims get around this by saying that the Christians and Jews corrupted thier books. This is impossible, as you'll see below. Quote: "God said: 'O Jesus son of Mary, recall My blessings upon you and your mother that I supported you with the Holy Spirit ... and I taught you the Scripture and the wisdom, and the Torah, and the Injeel'" (Quran 5:110) Ok, this presents so many questions...Since Jesus taught the Injeel (Gospels) and the Torah, and Allah supported Jesus in his teachings, then Jesus and the scriptures must have been correct at the time (roughly 30 AD). Therefore, it must follow that up to that point, the Jewish and Christian Scriptures were 100% without flaw/corruption. Thus, the Tahrif, or fabrication by the Jews/Christians, occured between the death of Christ (33ish AD) and the birth of the Quran (7th century). No such evidence exists. There were tons of copies of the Jewish Scriptures scattered in tons of countries at the time of Jesus. For the Jews to have changed all of them, for no apparent reason, makes little sense and cannot be supported at all by any historical evidence. In fact, the dead sea scrolls that were recently discovered were written before Jesus was even on earth...they confirm the validity of the Jewish scriptures. Also, note that most of the changes are not even important theological issues...which further begs the question: why would Jews corrupt their books to change little, insignificant details that have no bearing on the faith? Later on in that passage, it becomes clear that Muhammed had a false view of what Christianity was. In 5:116, God says "O Jesus son of Mary, did you tell the people to take you and your mother as gods instead of God?" Clearly, Muhammed here is referring to the Christian view of the trinity. Except instead of Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Muhammed thought it was Jesus, Mary, and the Father. There is no historical evidence of there ever being a cult of any sorts that worshiped Mary as a God. (This is why to this day, Muslims have a misunderstanding of the Trinity in Christianity...many believe that Mary is worshiped as a God) There is so much evidence scattered throughout the Quran that strongly suggests that the Quran copied the Bible inaccurately, as if done orally years after hearing about the Bible (Muhammed didn't read/write). For instance, the Quran confused the sister of Moses (Miriam) with Mary, the mother of Jesus (In Hebrew, Miriam and Mary are the same names.). These two people lived 1,500 years apart. Sorry for the long post, and if it came off sounding harsh, I apologize...I don't want this to turn into a bashing of religions. I just want to know what your view on this is. In response to Roshni: With all due respect, I have heard from countless Muslims that Paul lived 300 years after Christ. This allegation alone is enough to make me stop reading the rest of your post. Paul lived within the time of Christ, and he met with Peter and other disciples. Hope you don't take it personally, just check the facts before arguing. Another question that arises: the above quote says that Jesus taught the Gospel (or Injeel, in arabic). How can Jesus teach the Gospel, which was written 50 years or so after His death? Could it be that Muhammed forgot this little detail 600 years later when the Qur'an was written? About the Bible's many translation: this is another baseless argument. They are all translated from Hebrew/Greek...if there's ever an issue, we go back to the original Finally, I see a lot of responses here that point to alleged flaws in Christianity. If the Quran is perfect and unchanging, why does the Quran itself say verses can be removed and substituted? Quran 2:106 “ None of Our revelations do We abrogate (annul, change) or cause to be forgotten, BUT We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that Allah Hath power over all things?” http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/002.qmt.html This verse (aya) makes no sense. If the Quran can never be abrogated (changed) but a verse can be inserted and subtituted for another, isnt that a change? If I have changed one verse for another verse, has there not been a change? Obviously, the author of this Surah in the Quran was afraid that there were imperfections in the Quran so he left open the ability to improve the Quran. Notice these words "but we SUBSTITUTE something BETTER or similar". If something better is substituted, then the Quran is improved, thus meaning that it is not perfect, because perfection cant be improved or bettered.
Holy Quran is in total agreement with modern scientific data? Throughout ages, mankind has undergone numerous changes, and passing through repeated stages of development and growth, it has attained a more comprehensive awareness of the mysteries of creation. Nonetheless, the Quran has at all times retained its proud and dignified presence on the stage of human history and scientific discoveries. Dr. Maurice Bucaille, the French scientist, writes as follows: “A crucial fact is that the Quran, while inviting us to cultivate science, itself contains many observations on natural phenomena and includes explanatory details which are seen to be in total agreement with modern scientific data...... These scientific considerations, which are very specific to the Quran, greatly surprised me first. Up until then, I had not thought it possible for one to find so many statements in a text compiled more than thirteen centuries ago referring to extremely diverse subjects and all of them totally in keeping with modern scientific knowledge. ..... A thorough linguistic knowledge is not in itself sufficient to understand these verses from the Quran. What is needed along with this is a highly diversified knowledge of Science. ..... The hypothesis advanced by those who see Muhammad as the author of Quran is quite untenable. How could a man, from being illiterate, become the most important author, in terms of literary merit, in the whole of Arabic literature? How could he then pronounce truths of a scientific nature that no other human being could possibly have developed at the time, and all this without once making the slightest error in his pronouncements on the subject? “The ideas in this study are developed from a purely scientific point of view. They lead to the conclusion that it is inconceivable from a human being living in the seventh century A.D. To have made statements in the Quran on a great variety of subjects that do not belong to his period and for them to be in keeping with what was to be known only centuries later.
