Is it true that most Islamic countries do not allow anyone to promote any religion other than Islam?

I heard from some people that most Islamic countries do not allow anyone to promote any religion other than Islam. is this true? If it is true, why all western countries allow everyone to promote his religion freely? should not they treat Muslims the same treatment? Please note that I am not talking about rights of minorities, I am talking about the right to promote a religion to people that are not following it. For example promoting Christianity to Muslims. I know that most Islamic countries ban this, including Iran, Saudi, Egypt, Pakistan, Algeria, Sudan..etc.

No it`s nonsense there are many christians in muslim countries like Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan & they have all their relegious rightsn as equal as the muslim majorities
Yes it is true. No we should not do the same as them, for the same reason that we should not disavow democracy, oppress women and gays, place restrictions on liberty of speech and thought tc etc etc. If we believe in human rights, that means we believe in human rights for EVERYBODY. It's all or nothing. Christians in Pakistan suffer constant harrasment and imprisonment, it is illegal to open a church in Saudi, the only way that Chrstian convert in Afghanistan could be saved from stoning was to pressure the courts into declaring him mad.
Most islamic nations DO NOT allow teachings of any other faith, however, some DO allow it. And the reason that we don't treat them the same is because we have to show them a better way. And we can't very well do that by sinking to their level now can we?

You will find that conversion or the attempt to convert is worthy of death in a Muslim dominated country also if you are a different faith you will be treated as a second class citizen. Where Islam is not in control of the government there are a few more liberties. Do not listen to those who say otherwise. Check out the facts for yourself. All western countries do promote freedom of religion until that religion violated the laws of that state or country.

it IS illegal in most islamic/muslim countries to promote a religion other than islam, some muslim countries are more tolerant if you are ALREADY of another religion, but you still cant preach other than islam..
U have been misinformed. They do allow anyone to promote other religion. In Muslim countries, they made Islam as their official religion. As the official religion, Islam is definitely being prioritized than other religion. Perhaps non-Muslim see it as the way to discourage people to promote other religion. But it is normal. U say in Western countries, all people are allow to promote their religion freely. As far as i concerned, the authorities of western countries prohibited Muslim from performing their prayer's call. They can do it only inside the mosque without microphone. What good is that if the purpose of the prayer's call is to call Muslim to pray? And in Italy and Spain, the number of mosque are limited even if the majority in that area are Muslims. So the same also happened in Islamic countries. And the western said it as unfair. But they don't realize. They are just like the pot calling the kettle black.

To you be your religion, and to me my religion" Why would we promote Christianity to Muslims, when we know that Islam is true path, and we have proofs for that? we would like to bring people to the straight path , which makes sense. and not to misguide people. thank you for asking in Egypt. the tv shows the christian prayers every Sunday for the respect of their believe. and there are many churches as well over there. about promote their religion to muslims. muslims interact with christians all day, and i am sure they go thru discussion with each other. there alot of debates between muslim scholars and christians. and something recently happend in Egypt. a wife of a priest converted to Islam which cause alot of jelousy/problem between christians and muslims recently. and christians came up with false statement that they forced her to convert and it was all wrong. she lived with christians all her life and decided to convert to Islam, but christians took her away and never let her appear on tv to testify her exprience. christians just can't admit that Islam is true.
True religion is not afraid of criticism. That's a fact. Those who are taking steps of preventing other religion to be preached in their midst are those who are usually in doubt of what is really the truth. When you hold the truth there is no reason to hide anything from anyone. Just look around, read and observe and in just a matter of a short while you will see if who is really trying to suppress who. An honest person feels no guilt the reason why he is not afarid of anything. But a criminal who has something to hide would tend to become paranoid especially when there are people around him that is not of his kind.
I dont think thats true. Some muslim countries have churches and hindu temples.
