the logic that Islam is not being practiced in the way it is meant to be. However in Islamic countries Islam is definitely practised much more than in non Islamic countries. Hence these Islamic countries must be that much more ahead of non Islamic countries which is definitely not the case. The Prophet said that the best generation of muslims was his, then the one after that, then the one after that. When the muslims were practising the religion properly they were a beacon in the world, while Europe was stuck in the dark ages.
I notice also that the language has something to do with it. Seems like Arabic languages are spoken mostly in those troublesome and backward countries. This too; whenever Spanish and Catholisism are spoken in the same country, there is always a high poverty level, and HIV is rampant. Corruption is always rife whereever Catholicism is practiced, but especially when Spanish is spoken along with it.
hey, I was a Muslim for 17 years before I grew some brains and became an Atheist let me just say that like Christianity, there are various different sects of Islam, some of which have a current leader (Imam) and some of which strickly believe in the Qu'arn, you know, fundamentally believe in it. Thats nothing new, there are Christian cults were people strickly follow one element of Christianity. The Islamic theocracies you refer to are Iran, Saudi Arabia, countries where the religous leaders still employ that fundamentalism, often having the only spiritual prayer as reading the Qu'arn and doing exactly as it says. I was lucky enough to be raised in the Shia Imami Islamic sect, which has a current leader named Aga khan, who speaks worldwide about contemporary, modern Islam. In fact I never once read the Qu'arn when I went to religous classes, just Islamic history and modern speeches/lectures from intelligent, rational leaders. Following one book devoutly without question is wrong, but it is much more wide spread in Islam rather than Christianity. (you don't see many Christians killing homosexuals even though the Bible clearly says so) Anyway, I hope that helps, do some more research on the AGF (Aga Khan Foundation) and University of Ismaili Studies if you want to see modern, non-fanatic Islam (the women even sometimes dress promiscous!!!)
Alot of people mix culture with religion. What is being practices in, let's say, saudi arabia covering the woman from head to toe and treating them bad and so on...that is not what Islam preaches. These people are close minded. without understanding the context and history behind the verses, they have interpreted them as they want to. Honor Killings, for example, are not islamic but are still practiced in a lot of muslim countries. That does not make it right. There is a lack of knowledge, and education in these countries that is leading the people to act barbaric. if you still have so many doubts then why dont you pick up a nice translation of the quran or read the history instead of making assumptions. One translation I would highly recommend is "Dr Shabbir Ahmad's: The Quran as i understand it".
Mohamed (PBUH), unlike Jesus, defended himself with a sword named 'PEACE' So it is a Military religion where you have to live with the least of all comforts. All though Islam conveys brotherly love, after the death of Mohamed (PBUH) his relations Hasan-Hussain were massacred. This has been the rule of law as Insha-allah all punishments are conducted by humans. The desert conditions required such harsh treatment.
People are at fault, not the religion... people use religion to practise hateful behaviour... christianity is no better... never has been... look at all of the evil that has been carried out in the name of christianity... millions have suffered and died in the name of Jesus!
pls pls pls u r confusing ur self. islamic countries are only following one part of Islam and that is prayer part and they are not following the whole concept of living accordance to islam thats why they are behinde from others. there is not even a single islamic democartic country in this world. every where there is monaracy or army rulling. they only stress on praying and not to other things of Islam. what i think all the advanced and developed countries are the true followers of Islam. as they all take care of their people and not the rullers only.
To find out what the "religion of Peace" actually teaches, you have to go to the Koran. Then you can compare people's actions to what's in the book, and see whether it was meant to be practiced that way or not. And here's a sample of what the Koran says: Sura 8:12 I am with you; so support those who believed. I will strike terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved. You may strike them above the necks, and you may strike even every finger." Sura (2:216) - Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not. Sura (3:151) - Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority. 9:5 Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the non-believers wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. Surah II: 98 – “Allah is the enemy of the unbelievers.” Surah II: 191-193 – “Kill them [unbelievers] wherever you find them….Fight with them until there is no persecution, and religion should be only for Allah.” Surah II: 216 – “Fighting is enjoined on you, and it is an object of dislike to you; and it may be that you dislike a thing while it is good for you, and it may be that you love a thing while it is evil for you, and Allah knows, while you do not know.” Surah III: 19 – “Surely the true religion with Allah is Islam…and whoever disbelieves in the communications of Allah then surely Allah is quick in reckoning.” Surah IV: 104 – “Be not weak in pursuit of the enemy.” Surah V: 51 – “O you who believe!
