There is a horrible story in Islamic history (Ibn Katheer, Sahih Bukhary, Sirat Ibn Hisham...etc) that prophet Muhammed sent his companion, Khalid Waleed, to promote Islam for some people and they accepted it but they did not show very much interest in Islam. Hence, Khalid killed many of them and enslaved others. When prophet Muhammed knew about that, ALL what he did is that he denounced what Khalid did. That is it. He did not punish him for killing people. Actually, after a few days, he sent him again to fight for Ilsam and he called him "The sword of God"! Actually, Khalid did not do this. What he actually did was instruct his troops to keep the prisoners warm, and the troops thought that this alluded to execution. They then executed the prisoners. They wrongly interpreted his orders. By the way Ismael, he never actually killed them. His troops misinterpreted his instructions. He did however marry the wife of the now dead leader of the prisoners, Malik. By the way, don't bother with Ibn Hisham much. Cool graphics Mr. Mister!
That is a very good question. Unfortunately, this opens more questions. Khalid ibn Waleed was a big enemy of Islam. He converted to Islam but like many who converted, they still carried their tribal 'days of ignorance' jahaliya mentality. He not only killed the tribe, he also killed another man b/c he saw his wife and fell in love w/ her. Kalid killed her husband and married her the same day. I believe this happened after Prophet Muhammad (SAW) died where most Arabs, like the Holy Qur'an foretold, turned on their heels. When Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was on his death bed, the tribal leaders like Abu Bakr, Omar were in the 'Saqifa' which was a little shack so they could spread the leadership among themselves after Prophet Muhammad (SAW) passed away. So basically to cut a long story short, almost every single person turned their back on Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and his family and thus we have the current situation today with Osama bin Laden and his likes. Just to give proof, in al-Bukhari it says Prophet Muhammad (SAW) will have 12 descendants, which the Bible also says of the seed of Ishmael in Genesis. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) never called him the 'sword of Islam.' Certain titles were given to Ali ibn Abu Talib, his cousin and the 1st Imam of the 12. Ameeral Mumineen was spread to others, lion of God, sword of Islam, etc. all b/c of jealousy. Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib was such a nice person, he would feed the needy in the middle of the night so the hungry would not see him and be ashamed, a Christian man stole his armor when he was caliph of all Muslim lands but he did not have proof so the Christian man took the armor and was set free, but he returned to Imam Ali (AS) and said, you ruled the Muslim countries and you knew I had stolen this from you and you did not enforce any thing on me, indeed you must be righteous and became Muslim and also became a martyr fighting along side Imam Ali (AS).
if i give you the answer ,would you be convinced ? I don't think so , your mind is refusing to believe in any answer that would say any good thing about Islam . stop hating Islam first ,then you will be ready to take in the facts that is coming from reliable books ( sirat Ibn Hisham is not completely accurate ,nor Ibn Katheer). by the way, Muslims celebrate birthdays , they are human beings too.
