If honour killings are anti-Islamic, why do they occur in all Islamic countries?
Were honour killings common in all current Islamic countries, before the foundation of Islam?

- When people's relationships are disrupted, those with whom they are at odds will mostly not want to see their part in creating mental health problems. Indeed, if a person starts to develop psychiatric problems other people are likely to see these "symptoms" as further evidence discrediting the person concerned. Thus, just before a person breaks down again, for example, under the pressure of hostile, over involved and over critical relatives who, in the jargon, are in a high "Expressed Emotion Relationship", the person subject to criticism may start to become what in German is called fisselig, and what in psychiatrese is called "relapsing".
- It's cultural, not religious. You could also say that if abortion doctor killings are anti-Christian, why do they happen in Christian countries?
- They occur in the Indo-Pak world mostly, not in other countries.
- Well islamic people say they don't oppress their women either and that their women are cherished, yet I see them being oppressed every day. Same with honour killings, you hear about them too often. I don't want to generalise at all but I think many Muslims carry out their religion (which teaches some good morals and values) the wrong way.
- What is your problem bird? jtm
- The islam superstition has not progressed in any way for more than 1500 years, while the rest of civilization moved on. This explains the immense frustration those people have which inturn reverts them back 1500 years when killing was considered a "solution". It is a sad sad society the islamic one.
- Good question: Islamic Law has severe protection laws and even punishment Laws for such hidious crimes. The onlu problem is in ISLAMIC countries these laws are either not imposed as part of the constitution, or they are either not followed and the punishments not given DUE to CORRUPTION. Saudi Arabia has laws imposed and therfore has very little crime rate... I believe. I dont think honour killings even takes place there. Good question though.
- honor killings are typical of most primitive cultures. honor killing are very customary in Muslim societies, all over the world of Islam, so the claim these killing are anti-Islamic seems unfounded, or a face saving claim, just like the claim that Islam is a peace loving Religion, which is contradicted by all the violence Muslim Jihadists all over the world produce.
- In Islam, believers are allowed to keep thier practices, beliefs and traditions, etc, if they do not go against the ruling of the religion. 'Honour killings' and such are totally UNISLAMIC, as the religion does not promote violence or death as a solution. Honour killings are mostly derived from the country's culture...and this is not supported by the religion, and they do not take place in ALL islamic countries.. only a few..(mainly sub continental asian countries as mentioned) Islam is a religion that gives women equal rights as men and women are given the utmost respect.. things like honour killings are conducted by people who do not follow the correct religion... they still abide by thier old traditions..such practices may have been common before the advent of Islam, and people who still practice them nowadays despite being 'Muslims" are punishable by Islamic law... Why they still take place is basically coz the ppl still stick to thier old customs... it has nothing to with religion nor is it encouraged..
- because all those countries have men in them...killing a female for dishonouring a male(according to the male ego and pride that is) occurs in all countries throughout the world...even in the United States...but over here its called Domestic Violence...
- These are propagandas...one could never know if the one did the honour killing as you said is a real Muslim... Don judge the book by its cover...this is the easiest misconception about Islam....
- Honor killings DO NOT happen in ALL Islamic countires and it IS NOT a religious practice. I am guessing you get most of your 'facts' from the news.
- its cultural thing and there is no link with religion. its happend because low literacy rate in islamic countries.and it also occur in many non muslim countries.
