How could I learn arabic language through songs?
I would like to study the arabic language at home but without following regular classes, just through songs, their translations and transcriptions. Is there anyone with such an experience? Any suggestions would be welcome

- All I learned from listening to tons of arabic songs...is arabic rythyms. Oh and Habibi this Hayati that....lol. You still have to look up all the words and I can't imagine being able to construct a senstence without actually getting library books on grammar. I could be wrong......but I still sing along and have very little idea what most of the words mean.....Good luck. It's beautiful.
- OMG You cant even learn Arabic in a good year of classes. Unless maybe your in a household for a good 4 months and all yo u try to speak is Arabic. I should know Arabic since I am Palestinian and all. But it is such a flexible language. It is very complicated to get fluent from in in under 5 years. I suggest you keep your ambitions for the language but you need to take it more serious. Try meeting some arabs. They would love to know your serious. Ohh and to answer your question NO it is impossible. Most music is poetic and complicated even for a fluent arab top understand.
- Songs can be a good way of learning a language, but you you would need to know the meaning of each word, otherwise it'll just be meaningless sounds. Translations will help a bit, but they can be very loose so really you need a word for word translation - probably from a native speaker. Looking words up in a dictionary is hard for a beginner student of Arabic because of prefixes/suffixes and the root system. And Arabic songs are usually in dialect, so many words don't appear in the dictionary at all.
- my advice , Arabic songs of nowadays are far from the language itself, I have an Idea for you I think it will help. you listen to songs of (Abdulhalim Hafiz) and (Om Kalthoom) songs of the 60s and 70s of the last century, I belive this will help you finding
- I learnt English through songs ..lol... but I used dictionary and other sources to help. with arabic though, and just like evrybody else said music is not your best source, you can learn few words but not the language... I would suggest, and this is just my opinion if you dont want to learn the traditional way.. to use children books with pictures.. yeah I'm serious... this is how I got my 5 year old interested in the language and find it very easy to teach him the language since no one in my houshold speack the language but me.. he can look at the pictures and learn words that are writtin in arabic and english pronounciations. then when you have a large range of words stored somewhere in your brain you can move on to the next step which is learning the source of the words and grammer from (what else) but other than books intended to teach children the language (you can find these on ebay) it's simplified and not as complicated. You will only need to find a native speaker to help some... I'll be more than happy to help.. you can email me.. good luck
- u cant, because arabic language has a lot of dialect, i'm an arabic native and i cant recognise many of the dialects, even the country that i live in (Jordan) i dont understand many of Jordanian songs, it's v complicated and mixed,,,, arabic native
- I think you need to be around Arab ppl. That's the way I learned Arabic. I have been around tons of Arabs and went to Arabic skool for 8 yrs. But still my Arabic isent perfect. So I don't think you will be able to learn Arabic through songs. I don't think that will help you.
