What do you think of Islamic funds/banks ?

what do you think is a Islamic bank fund and do you think it has a potential for expansion to non Islamic country's. if you need more clarification to what is a Islamic fund please ask! same question is in the personal finance section if you like to answer on a personal level. And i beg you don't make this into a hate post!

all i know is that they don't do interest because it's unlawful in Islam so that's pretty cool i dunno about ecnomics or finance so i dont know about expansion

I agree with the first poster. Its quite hard to run an islamic bank ad funds too because their source of money have to be 'halal', as in free from alcohol and pork and anything prohibited in islam. and yeah, the interest free banking is really appealling. i think they do it to actually help people and not to gain profit. can non muslims apply for a loan in islamic banking too?
Those banks do not "lend" free of interest; they earn their interest by becoming part owners of the venture! Thus, they earn 3x what a pure interest earning bank would earn!
It is based on the principle that it is OK to profiteer from and exploit your fellow man as much as you like, as long as you do not charge him any interest whatsoever. What they find wrong with interest, I do not know. But then, nothing in that religion is based on reason.
i will not trust anyone or anything islamic and millions of other feel the same..............................since 911..............so I don't think they will move to non islamic countries
if u guys want an islamic funds banks or want things ur own way such as halal and bla bla bla go back to ur own "islamic" countries...or deposit money in ur own banks back home... why r u trying to change our western ideals? and as per banks giving us interest...if they are using our money to make money for themselves least they can do is give us our cut!! and because they are using our money for other purposes tht is what makes our economy grow instead of being a sitting duck like Pakistan and as for the Middle East the only thing tht makes them worthwhile is cuz they have Oil...when oil depletes which one day it will...the Middle East will have nothing but Islam!!!!
