Why is assassination so common in Islamic countries (RIP Benazir Bhutto)?
Actually, the very word is "assassin" is rooted in Islam, and that should be no suprise. It seems like a weekly event, some leader who wasnt islamic enough, or wasnt islamic at all, was murder by self righteous islamists. Today, it was Benazir Butto, a major political figure in Pakistan, and....a woman. Well, now shes dead, blown up by a suicide bomber...and what do we know about suicide bombers boys and girls? BINGO...they love Islam and love it soooo much, they are willing to murder for it. In Lebanon Islamists murder every politician who is not Islamic enough. But this is so common, we scarcely pay attention to it anymore. I mean, if you cricitize Islam, you know the implied threat that exists. If you run have political aspirations in an Islamic country, and are not Islamic enough, you very well know that you risk your life. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071227/ap_on_re_as/pakistan;_ylt=AodySydTF6JZxKYBjLUymTis0NUE Heres the bad news link. JOHN: Thanks for the addendum on the origin of "assassin". I had read this before and knew it to be correct.

- why is assasination so common in US-America?
- I think any country with an unstable political environment is likely to se assassinations. You see it in Africa and South America as well.
- an assassin can strike anywhere. If you piss off enough people
- Here here! Cannot agree enough with what you said! Another news article is here: http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/story.aspx?id=NEWEN20070037032&ch=12/27/2007%207:02:00%20PM
- Muslims also assassinated Kennedy and Lincoln- and tried to kill Reagan My pastor also told me they killed Jesus
- because they dont have a democratic system. the people are highly uneducated and tolerate that kind of submissive society. when yo have 12 kids per family, it is hard to get them all educated, so thaty act the same way they did 1000s of years ago.
- Because muslims are chauvinists, barbaric, and militaristic. Bhutto was a woman and she didn't like bin laden, so she already had some enemies. They're sheeple and they were brainwashed by Musharaf, so they decided to murder his opposition. See, in America, people are (generally) civilized and don't just go around murdering because something doesn't go his or her way. But in Pakistan, they don't know any better. They were screwed the day they broke off from India (the largest democracy in the world, who has never tried to take over any other country, and where the laws allow for women having equal rights to men). But you know what would be some major karmic retribution? If Bhutto was one of the suicide bomber's 70 virgins in the afterlife! And to anyone who says muslims are a peaceful religion-- OPEN YOUR EYES! Does 9/11 look peaceful to you? If y'all were so peaceful, you wouldn't stone women in public arenas just for wearing high heels.. edit: Is there a reason all the muslims supporting that religion can't spell properly? There is a "Check Spelling" option right above the box you type in. Please use it. Or else, you might be stoned for making the religion look bad by sounding stupid.
- Heightened despair results in desperation.
- Yeah, it's not like we here in America have ever witnessed any political assassinations, right? Get real. Were Abe Lincoln, MLK, or JFK's assassins Muslim? Were Cain and Abel Muslim? What about Julias Caesar and his assassin's? If I remember correctly Cain, Abel and Caeser all lived before the Muslim Faith ever existed.Well at least you can make the claim that RFK was killed by a Muslim! Assassination is an all encompassing human trait, it crosses all religious and geo-political boundaries. WTF! Thumbs down! What a bunch of uneducated IGMO's
- due to the idiology and the terrorist organization who think that in this way they are doing a good job and they will be in heaven for it while its the wrong in itself and democracy is still weak in its perception in such countries thus it make some conflicts in the understanding the concept of democracy and what it really means and they see it as break through the mores and manners of there society
- Wrong assassin is NOT rooted in Islam.
- This is going to sound very very un-PC, but here goes. I think it's because although Islam is generally a religion that encourages peace, there are passages in the Quran (excuse my spelling, i can never tell the proper way people spell it, with q or a k) which appear to have potential to be interpreted in a violent way. Also, there is no specific body of people (for example, the pope and his cardinals) who specifiy what a religion believes in and who can be a priest and who cant, etc. Islam is very very open to interpretation. This means that ignorant people can easily say that murder and assassination is justified by their religion. This is BAD and very dangerous. This is also true of Christianity, but mostly in the old testament, which, at least the Catholic church, is very solid in its beliefs on the fact that people in that time wrote for a different people and we must understand that. Under no circumstances are people to be killed for their religion. I love my religion, Catholicism very much too, but I would never kill another human for it, because that would be against my religion. It's all over the place in the bible. So I think, that in predominantly Christian/Jewish countries, because of our very high standard of living combined with a belief in not killing people, we also have a high value of life. Therefore assassination is lower because people are more accepting. that was a rather incoherent answer, but i hope you got the gist of what i was trying to say **note: i respect the religion of Islam and do not mean offense towards it in any way, because I know of many peaceful and wonderful people who practice it.**
- I think it has more to do with political instability then religion
- I really liked her. This is such a shame. She could have helped to unify democracy there. She was the last hope. Islamic countries do not value life or the individual. Their lack of love within the brotherhood of man is a sad display of evil. Evil is anything that doesn't follow God's divine plan. Murder isn't a factor within His plan. Those who believe that this is what Allah wants are deluding themselves and it will come back upon them ten-fold in the worse way.
- Did not the US start the idea of assasination? How many presidents were assasinated or nearly assasinated? If the US is such a safe country, why does the US president have security around him? Why are there killings in schools and malls and churches? This is why GOD has put punishment in the quran for people who commit such crimes. In islam, one who kills in injustice, his punishment is the death penalty. One who steals, his hands are to be cut off. One who commits fornication is to be lashed. THOSE PUNISHMENTS ARE FOR THE MUSLIMS if they commit such acts. If muslims were perfect, why would God put a system of punishment for those who do wrong? And just because people might get away with their actions in this lifetime, they will be held into account one day and will pay for it one day.
- There are a number of reasons why people try to assassinate crooked politicians, and 'islam' is not normally the main one. Perhaps you are going to tell us that the Swiss were all hard line fundamentalists when they convicted her? Or the Spanish were acting out of Islamic spite when they accused her of money laundering? Or might the fact that she was removed from office twice for corruption, and then did a deal with Mussharaf to give her immunity from prosecution have angered her killers? The way in which she had arranged for the constitution to be altered to allow her a chance of a third term, must also have worried many in her country.
- Sigh~so much for the religion of peace.
- First off. from Wickipedia: The term 'Assassin' derives from Hashshashin, a militant Ismaili Muslim sect, active in the Middle East from the eighth to the fourteenth centuries. This mystic secret society killed members of the Abbasid and Seljuq élite for political and religious reasons.[3] It is speculated that the assassins were drugged for their murders with hashish and opium; assassin derives either from hasishin, the influence of the drugs, or hassansin, after their leader, Hassan-i-Sabah. Hashishinnya was an offensive term depicting this cult by its Muslim and Mongolian detractors. Secondly: Comparing the present day assassinations in the Middle East to the assissinations of Kennedy, Lincoln, etc. is a sad commentary on your own perspective. You will find that assassinations, on the commonality scale we see now, normally take place in countries where the idea of deference to the law and an honest court system are pretty much non existent. Where there are dictators, as in most of the middle eastern countries such as Iran, Suadi Arabia, Syria, Sudan, et al., the only way to accomplish change is through violent means. In the US ( a republic, not a democracy) and other western countries, we have the option of "voting out the rascals". Also, in countries where there is no hope of a better life for yourself or your children in the existing system, then what is there to lose? When I say "no hope for a better life", I do not mean poor people in western countries. I mean people living under dictarships whose only hope is that they are able to live through the day.
- The person who assassinated Rabin was an extremist Jew The person who assassinated Gandhi was an extremist Hindu The person who assassinated Marcus in the Philippines had a different motive & there had been many assassinations in Africa, Latin, America, & Europe for many different reasons or motives. Pakistan is already in a political turmoil. It would be really ridicules to blame Islam for the assassination of Bhutto. By the way, The Lebanese politicians were not assassinated because they’re not Islamic enough, but because they don’t want a Syrian control on Lebanon. In other words it’s politic & nationalism
- I can't believe those savages killed her (May she rest in peace). I should. I should be use to the suicide bombings and uncivilized behavior, but I'm not. I should also be prepared for the idiotic Muslim excuses such as it's politics and not religion, and why blame islam for one thing. It's not just one event...it's the history of islam. Politics IS a part of islam, since it encompasses every aspect of their life. Muhammad was a politician. How many promises did he put out there for his companions, from control and uniting people to women and the spoils of war? And the wine, women and glory of Paradise for those that fight for allah. I'm sick and tired of islam. God Bless.
- In the history of the presidency, four presidents have actually died from assassination. Another six were the subject of assassination attempts. Following is a description of each assassination and attempt. Way before the rise of Islam, assassinations were too long to count; The list of assassination victims in ancient times is far too long to recount in detail. Roman history alone is studded with acts of murder. Long before and after the most famous assassination in Rome's history—that of Julius Caesar in 44 B.C.—the dagger proved a far more common instrument of political change than the ballot. The assassination of Domitian in A.D. 96, and that of Commodus in 192, serve as virtual bookends to the golden age of the empire, after which the western portion fell into a slow, but steady decline. During the half-century that began in 235, no fewer than 20 men held and lost the seat of Roman power, more often than not at the hands of assassins. Assassination plots, or rumors of them, have sometimes had the effect of neutralizing a ruler indirectly. Some of the greatest and most despicable men of ancient times—Hannibal on the one hand, and Nero on the other—killed themselves rather than let assassins do the job. And Chandragupta, founder of the Mauryan empire of India in the third century, feared assassination so much that in 301 he left his throne, joined the Jain sect, and later died of starvation. On the other hand, rulers secure in their power usually dealt severely with would-be assassins. Such is the case with the ruthless Prince Cheng of China's Ch'in state during the third century B.C. Many people wanted the tyrant Cheng dead, and the crown prince of the rival Yan kingdom set in motion assassination plans. It was a mark of the terror Cheng commanded that the king of Yan killed his own crown prince in the hope that it would please the Ch'in ruler. Assassinations continued throughout the Middle Ages in western Europe and the Byzantine empire, as well as in the Muslim caliphates.
- Islam and testosterone poisoning.;)
- I have always had a fear that when the UK Islamic community gets big enough we will feel more of the wrath of Islam in this country. 7/7 and the Glasgow hot doctors indicate what lies underneath a minority of UK Muslims already. I frankly resent anybody who has the nerve to tell me that I am not allowed to be against the establishment of an even bigger UK Muslim community.Already Muslims are have a multi million UK community (over 2,000,000) Having said that I am deeply saddened by the death of Benazir Bhutto. I admired her father and the whole family, such a pity the idiots have to kill what was a hope for Pakistan. Let me repeat, the establishment of a multi million Islamic community in the UK is a grave mistake
- assassination is so common every where not only in Islamic countries
- To be honest, I just found out about Bhutto 20 minutes ago and I am damn ANGRY ! I haven't been this pissed off at Islam since 9/11, 7/7 and the Beslan massacre ... YES muslims, a bunch of you are LIARS. Just look at the life of your false prophet and founder, muhammad the desert rat-- he was a terrorist and assassin who encouraged terrorism and assassination. It's in the qur'an and proven in the hadith as well. It's time to start fighting back people..... Many Westerners believe the lie that Islam is a "religion of peace"... it's time to step out of your ignorance. Study your enemy and read the qur'an. It's all right there for you to discover for yourself: Qur'an 5:33 "The punishment for those who wage war against Allah and His Prophet and make mischief in the land, is to murder them, crucify them, or cut off a hand and foot on opposite sides...their doom is dreadful. They will not escape the fire, suffering constantly." Qur'an 9:5 "When the sacred forbidden months for fighting are past, fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, torture them, and lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war." Qur'an 8:12 "Your Lord inspired the angels with the message: ‘I will terrorize the unbelievers. Therefore smite them on their necks and every joint and incapacitate them. Strike off their heads and cut off each of their fingers and toes." Qur'an:47:4 "So, when you clash with the unbelieving Infidels in battle (fighting Jihad in Allah's Cause), smite their necks until you overpower them, killing and wounding many of them. At length, when you have thoroughly subdued them, bind them firmly, making (them) captives. Thereafter either generosity or ransom (them based upon what benefits Islam) until the war lays down its burdens. Thus are you commanded by Allah to continue carrying out Jihad against the unbelieving infidels until they submit to Islam." //////////// Nothing would make me happier right now than to find out the Kaaba had been bombed and reduced to a pile of rubble and dust.
