  1. The hadith is a collection of the writings about Muhammad and are believed to have been written within 200 years of his death. They are one part of what are considered to be the sacred writings of Islam. The other two are the Sirah, which is something of the biography of Muhammad, and of course, the Quran.
  2. they were written in front of him....... just when he uttered those words companions of Prophet would write and HE would recheck it..........
  3. The two main sects of Islam are the Sunnis & and the shiites. Both I believe follow the teachings of the Quran and the Hadiths. However, the Sunnis apply another criteriun for completeness of interpretation on any doubtful matter touching on rules & guidelines, i.e. the edit of the Islamic scholars in council or Jamaah. The Quran lays down the basic foundation of Islamic jurisprudence and laws to be followed by all Muslims governing the way of life to be adopted by Muslims. The Quran was delivered to Allah's Messenger Muhammad in stages over a period of 23 years. Although it contains 30 Juzzs or Divisions, 114 Surrahs (subject matter) and 6,666 words of Allah they consist of Allah's commandments in gist forms, without much elaborations on detailed explanations. It's the hadith that forms the 2nd layer of instructions as to the methodology, circumstances and ways of practice on excerpts from the Quranic verses. In other words the hadiths complement the Quran for completeness of Allah's commands or guidance. And the hadiths are actually inspired by Allah through his Messenger Muhammad (who is actually illiterate). Of course, new ideas and circumstances surface as time goes by, especially after the passing away of Muhammad. This is when the Islamic scholars or muftis (usually in council) will take over to interpret what course of action to follow by issuing various edicts from time to time. Finally, there are true hadiths as well as false hadiths (which generally outnumber the former). So Muslims have to be constantly aware of the false ones, solely created to confuse the ummah (followers). True hadiths will have an undisputable lineage of narrators right up to the prophet's sahabahs.
  4. The Quran should be our only source in my view because it itself states that the Quran is fully detailed and that following any source aside from the Quran as part as your religion is idolatary. Those who disagree should study and analyze their holy book more carefully.
  5. True Islam = Quran Alone
