Do you agree with this hadith?

“The world is a prison-house for the believer and paradise for a non-believer.” (Narrated in the book of authentic hadith by Muslim.) I agree to some extent, but life can still be very fun even if following Islam very strictly, if anything Islam made my life MORE fun, not less fun! Maria: Yeah, it seems to inspire me, not sure how, but it does :) ----- Thieves: Never did anything, so no reason to go to prison :) KMI: This hadith is not telling us to do anything, it is commenting, if it is not a command, then how are we supposed to follow it? If it was telling me to do something, then I would not ask if people agreed on it :)

  1. omg i so agree. just shows how tough it is to be a good muslim.
  2. Yes, its a very beautiful hadith and actually encourages me alot to practice Islam more strictly. The more I face here the more rewards I'll get in the other world InshAllah.~! :)
  3. It seems to contradict the Qur'an, which enjoins believers to enjoy the good things God has put on this earth for us. Islam is not about self-denial and misery. Being a Muslim can be tough in some respects, but it can also be enjoyable and rewarding in many more ways. I would hardly consider it to be a prison. Personally, I've found that since becoming a Muslim I've been a lot happier overall with my life.
  4. no
  5. What do you mean "agree"? you do know that sayings of the prophet muhammad (saw) are hadith, dont you? We must obey Allah (swt) and his messenger. We cannot "agree" with one authentic hadith and reject another. edit: so what? Muhammah (saw)'s sayings must be held in the highest regard, whatever they may be. There is no need to ask people what they think of his comments.
  6. Yes I agree with the hadith as you have been quoted. For muslims this world like in prison house because we should obey to the life guide given by Allah e.g the holy Qur;an and also the another life guide given by Muhammad pbuh e.g hadiths. Both of these life guides should be practise in our daily lives as a limitation, insruction to do something such as praying, psy donation, pay islamic taxes, fasting, haj pilgrim, love and respect other etcand prohibition to do something such as haram foods and drinks, insulting, gam bling,killing,offending,gossip,adultery/fornication or freesex etc.Although we have so many limitation we are happy because we want a happy life on this earth and happay life too after death. We have so many funs in between limitation given by Allah....For non believers this world is like paradise because they can do everything as they like without limitation such as freesex, homosexualism, lesbianism, killing, gambling etc. We muslims should obey to the life guide.Non believers do not believe those kind of life guides ,so they do not care about sin and the life after death.
  7. well I say to anyone. I live for Allah nothing you can do to me without his permission, therefore you cant hurt me. HA! i win :( too bad chemistry has a mind of its own
  8. The Prophet, peace be upon him, said "none of you will have [true] faith until his very wishes follow what I brought [of guidance]" When the Prophet, peace be upon him, says something and it is documented in an authentic book, the Muslim should accept it and agree with it automatically, because as the Quran says, the Prophet doesn't bring it from his own personal decision. I agree that life can be very fun even if you are following Islam to the letter, but not every Muslim in every situation would feel the same. There are situations where a Muslim might feel under a lot of pressure, might be insulted, harassed, and be subjected to a lot of suffering because of his faith. That's what makes this life like a prison for the believer. On the other hand, the non believer does not have the same "strict" rules of Islam and might be enjoying this life to the full without any restrictions, which makes this life his paradise. If he does not see the truth and follow it, then it will be his only paradise her. The other world will not be that! Peace-salaam.
  9. Yes.. prison-house means the challenges, hardness and cruelty that we all face in this world, only Mukmin can stand tall. yet doesn't mean that we can't enjoy our life. Only thing that we should do is appreciate it and always "Wasathiah" keep in moderation in anything we do. Yes for non-believers world is their only heaven. that's why they do as what they like and don't consider others feelings.
  10. I have to say I agree with "somebody else"'s answer.. Islam doesnt have to be prison... it can be liberating and fun... God gave us everything on this earth to enjoy and have fun with within a moral foundation.. You dont have to drink alcohol, dance at a disco half naked, fornicate etc to have fun in life... You can get high on life just by going out with your family in the fields on a sunny day, seeing the birds chirping, feeling the cool green grass under your toes, listening to the wind blow through the trees, playing soccor with your kids.. etc... You dont have to be a "bible" thumper as I call it.. someone who is so totally obsessed with religion that they actually cant relax and enjoy everything... Also another note to ponder.. whenever I hear a hadeeth here and there...\ My husband always reminds me... Our dear prophet also said this.. and no one seems to mention this anymore.. he said.. There will be some who say I said this and said that and put words into my mouth that I didnt say, its up to you to use logic and to determine if it is true or not. Read the Quran and use your heart. if it doesnt make sense to you, then I didnt say it".. So in essense, this tells me.. that even though you claim this is authentic.. there are and will be hadeeths that are just not true.. Would Allah want us to be in hell here on earth?.. NO.. he gave us the good things to enjoy and have fun with.. Allah knows all... May he bless us all and give us good judgement and insight and knowledge! ^_^
  11. Well We should Agree with every hadith This hadith is having a message that Dunniah is Not For Muslims so we should use it as our necessity we shouldn't make it our purpose. Allah says If this world would be equal to a wing of mosquito then I should not give a sip of water to Kaffir" Non-believer has rewards in this world and Believer will get reward in Akhirah .
  12. i agree with part of it, disbelievers indulge way too much in worldly pleasures, but i wouldn't say the world is a prison-house for believers - we still have fun! ^_^
  13. Totally agree with it. I think this Hadith has been somewhat misunderstood. The imam in our Masjid explained it one time like this. It is a prison house for the believer if compared to everlasting paradise in the hereafter and a paradise for the non-believer compared to the hell he is going to forever. What a believer gets on earth are almost nothing compared to the rewards in Jannah, and the punishment the non-believer gets in hell is worst than his worst experiences on earth.
  14. Yes I agree with that hadith 100% right now for all Muslims its like prison with everything that is going on and how we are treated, the non Muslims they feel they can do as they please and love this life and think of it as paradise.
