Why follow these hadith if the quran says to only follow the quran which is perfect?
I dont understand why in islam they have hadith and sunna . Muslims say the quran is perfect if in fact it is then why have hadith at all which was written by man after the quran was revealed to Muhamad. Sounds a little hypocriticle to me to say the quran is perfect but yet turn around and follow other books along with the quran. Thank you for responses. It still baffles me that muslims would need something else other than the quran. Its like saying its perfect but we still need something else to tell us exactly what to do. Doesnt make sense at all to me. Alas to each their own. We know right from wrong and hope we all make the right decisions. to smk. the quran says not to worship or idolize anyone or anything other than allah. Isnt doing what muhammed did idolizing someone? There for making hadith and sunnah against the quran the word of allah? truth only- If god had ordered him to write down hadith wouldnt that just contradict the quran which is suppose to contain all the answers anyone would need? IF there are soo many wrong hadith shouldnt that be a red flag not to follow something soo imperfect ?

- because when you back a Muslim into the corner they say...you can't understand because you don't know religious 8th century arabic...or that their faith rests on three pillars instead of the "holy" koran...
- Every Muslim follows the Quran and yes indeed its perfect, The Hadith is just another Guide for them, not all muslim follow the Hadith, it was written in times of Muhammad (saw) to guide the future generation and so on :). Some people need to understand what exactly the Quran says soo yeah thats why they use other books to help break down the Quran.
- The Qur'an isn't perfect; it has several errors, some very important.
- well, yes the Quran is perfect. the Quran is the word of God. Hadith r the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad(PBUH). Sunnah r the ways of the Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) in performing particular deeds. All these go hand in hand. All muslims follow the Quran. the Hadith n Sunnah help us follow the Quran in a better n simplified way. there's nothing hypocritical there. the Hadith n Sunnah hep us to adhere to n follow the Quran in more sophisticated way that's all. if u want any books or material regarding the subject, mail me ur postal address at ben.hil99@yahoo.com. also tell me ur language preferences so that i can send u the appropriate material.
- Haddit is the saying of Prophet Muhammed(Pbuh).. And Allah has said to obey the Messenger.. Allah has specified in Quran to pray five time a day but did'nt specified how to pray.. To know how to pray we have to follow the Prophet Muhammed(Pbuh).. like that there many do and don't in Haddith.. Saying of Prophet Muhammed(Pbuh) is not just his word.. Allah ordered him to do so..And Prophet follow that.. and we too have to follow that.. Hope so i answer your question..
- We dont always follow all Hadist cos Hadists is Sunnah. Many hadists are fake because they were made by anti-islam long time ago. Then why we follow some hadist ? Because Hadist is documentation about Prophet Muhammad's life. To follow hadist means to learn from Muhammad. Hadists were made by people that were closed to the prophet, and wrote what they saw or heard about Muhammad. And it's not easy to choose which hadists are correct, and which are not.. I dont follow absurd hadist like man shouldnt wear trousers to long, etc; because it's not even mentioned in Quran. As a Muslim, we have to put Quran first.. then hadist. If there are clash of meaning in Hadist vs. Quran, then the hadist is questionable so we leave that hadist and follow Quran.
- if they don't follow the hadith they will have to explain why they pray 5 times a day instead of only 3.
- Muslims take Holy Quran as their source of Guidance. Hadith or saying/actions of Prophet (pbuh) are just explanation of the verses. Holy Quran has a special style. It speaks of major issues but may not explain the ways to do it. That we get from Hadith. The very basic tenent as Prayer is mentioned many places in the Holy Quran but how to pray is what we get from Authentic Hadith. Nothing ever contradicts one another.
- I dont know....interesting point.
- Hadith is part of Sunna. Its not hypocrites. Hadith is integrated with Quran. Quran is perfect, but there is a lot fo things completed, explained and analyzed by Sunna of prophet Mohammed. Quran says "Obey god and his Apostle" Surah Anfal verse 8 This verse and other verses that says the same order muslim to obey prophet and do what does he do and say.
