The people of Darfur have died in a lot more numbers than Americans are you campaigning for a force to be sent to protect the people there? In case you did not know that is Islamic gunmen backed by the government of Sudan against the mainly Christian people of Darfur. So there is a holy war you have not mentioned at all. Yes, we are having troubles with Islam. And what caused this? Simple: trying to impose our policies to them by force. And invading Iran will not solve the problem. Already we are up to the neck with Iraq and is still not solved. What makes you think invading Teheran will make Middle East a "paradise"? The logic of some people!
Perhaps people don't want to be "politically incorrect" and don't want to offend. I really don't know why, but ever since 9-11, we've had some people try to "repackage" Islam...trying to make it seem like it's not so bad. There are MANY worldwide threats to the existance of mankind.....global warming, famine, disease, nuclear war, and it goes on and on. There is a basic set of beliefs that Judeo-Christians hold, based on the Bible. There is another set based on the Koran. Amazingly, they have historical similarities.
I think most people today would agree that it is a huge threat, but it is not the only threat. We need to defend ourselves, but if we do it "preemptively," we are playing into the hands of the extremists by validating the anti-US propaganda. I think what you're saying is that we can't please everybody and we can't control the brainwashing anyway, so why not just kill them before they kill us...I disagree. Terrorism is a huge problem....the roots of terroristism start early in people's lives---and it's ingrained within them to hate a certain group of people. Generations of people--both men and women-- are conditioned early in their lives to carry on such horrible lessons---. Eventually the meaning behind the hatred gets lost--and instead of hating the idea--they hate the group---then the whole--misery begat misery...etc. The War on Terrorism needs to be fought---but it needs to be fought smartly. We are dealing with nations that support terrorism (or have alleged connections to terrorism)---yet for SOME reason be it money, ideals, etc we continue to remain close to them. We need to rethink our entire strategy and deal with this problem properly. Otherwise the cycle of violence will continue---

unfortunately it is close minded people like you who cause wars and convince everyone that dropping some bombs is the answer solve your own problems within your own borders - you know things like school shootings, poverty, illiteracy, things that matter - before you start trying to tell the rest of the world how to do things if its ingrained in them to be terrorists from an early age by teaching kids to hate certain groups of people.....doesnt that by definition mean that americans are breeding terrorists at an alarming rate? your teaching your kids to hate all muslims because of a misguided few. how bout hating all Irish because of the IRA? or hating all Italians because of the mob? or all Germans because of Hitler? it could be said that americans are the ultimate terrorists - they invade an entire country to get at one person!

Just this AM on a Public Radio news summary, the female announcer coolly and calmly reported the suicide bomb attacks in Afghanistan today and yesterday, and gave the body count and the estimated number of casualties still alive. There was no mention that most of the casaulties were civilians. She did not mention who the murderers might be, or whether there were any world reactions to these mass murders, or whether any international or national organizations would respond in any ways. The Hizbullah terrorist recently killed in Syria continues to make front page news day after day, with terrorism supporting organizations receiving enormous free publicity for their propaganda. Similarly reportage of controversial events by US or NATO peacekeeepers in the Middle East, also receive a disproportionate amount of coverage and analysis. There is very little coverage of the battlefield successes, the captures and arrests of wanton Islamic criminals, or of the humanitarian reconstruction efforts of our military forces. Why is this? To say that much of the media is in denial about the threats of Islamism seems naive. They clearly are biased and compromise their journalistic integrity and reputations in doing so. More importantly, in doing so, they mislead public opinion about the very real dangers of militant Islamism, and slander the important work of our military services and foreign policy which of course affect national security. So, one important factor, to answer your question, is the biased news converage of the battles against Islamism and the atrocities commited by these Islamic criminals. If progress in Iraq continues to the point that Iraq maintains its pro-Western, constitutional republic, on par with other stable Middle Eastern nations, which now seems ever more possible, and in the process, Al Qaeda and their ilk are given a huge defeat, world opinion will change I think, particularly in Muslim countries where the masses in general do not want to live life under Islamic theocratic tyranny. For example, most Iranians do not want the Islamic Revolution and the mullocracy that are forcefully being imposed on them, and are not allowed to speak out against this. Long term success in Iraq serves as a model for many oppressed Middle Easterners who are rejecting the criminal extremisms of groups like Al Qaeda. Btw, you say that Islamic terror is growing. Well, in Iraq right now, Al Qaeda and the insurgency are being beaten badly. The epicenter for the continuance of Islamic terror is the dictators that control Iran.
