Hadith? Other than Quran?
One of the answers to questions I asked in this site made a reference to Hadith. This leads me to read on briefly through wikipedia. My question: why is there another reference other than your Quran? Does Quran do not tackle everything necessary. And what is the main difference? In analogous reference to Catholics, they also have their cathecism with those traditions not found in the bible.

- quran is what god says. muslims beleive all of it. HADITH is what mohommad said. you don't have to beleive in them. only some muslims. it really is more like tradition, i guess you could say. for example, the hijab is a teaching of hadith, not quran. =]
- in general, the Quran is the main reference book for the muslims, and the hadith is the second. the Quran is the holy book penned by Allah himself, and is undoubtedly(in our beliefs) perfect in every aspect. and the hadith, is a compilation of words and acts of wisdom by the prophet Muhammad which were recorded by several hadith writers. tho, we do not regard hadiths to be perfect, and there are hadiths which are not valid. the purpose of the hadiths is not to fill in what the Quran left out, the Quran is perfect. rather it is to further clarify words in the Quran, and to explain to us the ways of life as a muslim.
- Holy Quran is the pure word of GOD ie, THEORY. Hadith is the way of prophet ie, speach, actions, law, interpretation of Quran, etc. PRACTICAL.
- the quran is the final word of god. it is fixed and has never been alter through time. hadiths came about by prophet muhamed (pbuh) and his houshold, not companions like abu bakr and abu huraya. these ppl tortured and dislike the prophets family. hadiths were said to emphasize the quran. b/c after and during the prophets life things changed and the quran does not have everything about islam. like every single detail. so hadiths came out to better understand islam and the quran peace
