Does the quran mention sperm and ovaries, and their role in reproduction?
I've heard the quran talks about semen (liquid) and blood, neither of which have any role at all in creating life. When babies are created in laboratories (test tube babies), no semen or blood is involved; however, sperm (which is a cell, not a liquid) and an ovary are essential. Which verses of the quran state/are interpreted to this factual method of creating human life?

- sperm yes ovaries no no one knew about the ovaries until i think about 600 or 500 years ago the whole clot thing was at the times (600 ad) it was a widely held belief that semen mixed with blood to form humans the greeks had this idea in the 1st century they were wrong
- about babys there s a verse that is against abortion i think the after 40 days pregnancy is not allowd to aborte then it says how the pregnancy starts how the fetus looks like
- I can't find a specific verse that talks about sperm or ovaries. I found this one though where he talks about human embryo. *** We created man from an extract of clay. Then We made him as a drop in a place of settlement, firmly fixed. Then We made the drop into an alaqah (leech, suspended thing, and blood clot), then We made the alaqah into a mudghah (chewed substance)... 1 (Quran, 23:12-14) *** http://www.islam-guide.com/frm-ch1-1-a.htm Salaam
- These 2 verses mentioning creation of life come to my mind: And indeed We created man (Adam) out of an extract of clay (water and earth). (12) Thereafter We made him (the offspring of Adam) as a Nutfah (mixed drops of the male and female sexual discharge and lodged it) in a safe lodging (womb of the woman). (13) Then We made the Nutfah into a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood), then We made the clot into a little lump of flesh, then We made out of that little lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, and then We brought it forth as another creation. So Blessed is Allâh, the Best of creators. (14) [23:12-14] Does man think that he will be left neglected [without being punished or rewarded for the obligatory duties enjoined by his Lord (Allâh) on him]? (36) Was he not a Nutfah (mixed male and female sexual discharge) of semen emitted (poured forth)? (37) Then he became an 'Alaqa (a clot); then (Allâh) shaped and fashioned (him) in due proportion.[] (38) And made him in two sexes, male and female. (39) Is not He (Allâh Who does that), Able to give life to the dead? (Yes! He is Able to do all things). (40) [75:36-40]
- the koran says; first the new creature looked blood clot and looked like a leech, then it formed bones and then allah clothed them with flesh. no mention of the need of the egg of the women, yes its in the koran but can't find it in my messy notes.
- This verse from the Quran shows that the Muslim Allah must have forgot, or was absent minded about male sperm and female egg and mistakenly said Blood Clot. Surah 23:12-14 We created man from an extract of clay. Then We made him as a drop in a place of settlement, firmly fixed. Then We made the drop into an alaqah (leech, suspended thing, and blood clot), then We made the alaqah into a mudghah (chewed substance).
- Does that mean semen doesn't contain sperms ?!! Normal pregnancy doesn't occur in laboratories , and basically in test tube babies where from they get the sperms ? From the testicles itself ?!! No they get it from the semen . No blood mentioned in the quran is the creation what was mentioned is notfa which is a clot formed after fertilization . Some scholars objected to the idea of looking at the Quran as a scientific book , the aim of the Quran is to guide people not to provide them with scientific informations which may confuse those beduins , so it provided them with simple informations that they will be able to comprehend . This verse indicates that humans were created from mixture from the man and the woman the word used in the verses is " amshag " means mixture Khalifa translation We created the human from a liquid mixture, from two parents, in order to test him. Thus, we made him a hearer and a seer.(76-2) if you notice in the translation he added "liquid "and he added "from two parents " and both were not mentioned in the verse The verse said only amshag = mixture (that's all ) but the translator understood the verse that's why he added those words .
- Again this where religious Scriptures become outdated from scientific advances and I doubt that those who were recording those writings would actually know about a microscope to be able to identify any such thing as small as a pin tip prick size of a single sperm. Moreover they would only see the blood emerge from such a prick in their little finger and feel the pain and think the devil may have caused the blood to flow for having evil thoughts. Albeit I above vis is that religious scriptures should be scrutinised to make sure that they don't contravene any of the Human Rights abuse laid down by the United Nations as many scriptures do contain evil content and should be outlawed from ever being practised and read anywhere in the world.
- When faith matters, nothing else matters.. I believe Allah created me and i dn't want to change it though i am a post graduate degree holder... Even if there are millions of healthy sprems and ovaries,no life will start if Allah doesn't intend to...If he intend to,He can amke life from dead cells..(Surah 2:14)
- The Arabic word alaq, besides meaning a congealed clot of blood, also means something that clings, a leech-like substance. Do not doubt the Quran in this matter. Even scientists have looked at the Quran and Hadiths and agreed there is no conflict between what the Quran and Hadith say about embryology and what scientific discoveries have proven.
- well blood is not even involved in human body and semen i s involved in labortary because you have to nourish sperms.. although that semen is artificial.. for Qurani verse, look at above answers..
- The holy Quran(Koran) is the true words of God almighty. One of the powerful proofs (may be most powerful one) is its amazing scientific nature. Holy Quran is a Book revealed to Prophet Muhammad 1400 year ago but it says about Big Bang, Big Crunch, Expanding Universe and so many other advanced scientific aspects!! So there is no excuse for atheist on the proof of the existence of God. - the Quran mentions the sperm which is visible to the naked eye but it does not mention the ovaries. The holy Quran mentions that men is created from gushing fluid ejected between the backbone and the ribs. The seminal vesicles produce between 60 to 70% of the semen content per ejaculation. They are not located behind the ribs. I am a Muslim who is scientific and logical. I think the ancient Greeks used to believe that the fluid is emerging from the backbone and ribs.
