How many Muslims here refer to Scholars to interpret Quran?Or do you try to interpret on your own?

To Jilan A, just curious. I like to understand where a person is coming from even if i don't totally agree with them.

  1. One cant interpret the Quran by oneself.. that is dangerous.. the best is when Quran is interpreted by another ayat of the quran, second by hadith, 3rd.. I am not sure, and the weakest is when interpreted by a Human brain.. for me, I wud read the tafseer ibn kaseer to understand the quran, or listen to some islamic lectures!!
  2. I follow scholars since: 1. I don't know Arabic, I just read the translation. you know that translation can't always give the exact same meaning with the original one. 2. I don't know Asbab an Nuzul on every verses, I don't know the chronology of Quran revelation, and it's important to decide a law of something in Islam. 3. I don't have knowledge about hadith 4. the last and the most important I'm just human, I don't have pure heart, I'm afraid I make interpretation of Quran to fit with my desire.
  3. I only refer to the Yusuf Ali Quran translation approved by committee of IFTA.
  4. :-) 1. I learn the standard (agreed) methodology of Quran interpretation 2. I learn the agreed rules of what skill a person need to be the interpretation of Quran 3. I refer to some scholars interpretation of Quran (Ibnu Taimiyah, Al Mischbah, local mufatsir, official government tafseer) 4. I like to learn the word etymology for my own understanding, and try to confirm and questioning the reason behind the interpretation (ashabul nuzul) peace add: why do you ask this question?
  5. Always Refer to Authentic Interpretation,
  6. I have read Quran Alhumdulillah many many times. I never come up with out studying it. I cannot interpret on my own ( although I can ) because Quran is the word of Allah and I'm a person who can make mistakes. Therefore I read the translation first, understands it. And mostly when I quote the Quranic verses here, I was already aware of them. ~!
  7. well since i'm not that knowledgable on things in Islam I refer to a scholar to interpret the qur'an because scholar is studying and knows the Qur'an and has better knowledge.
  8. I read the interpretation of many scholars not only one .. i seldom disagree with their interpretations but if it happened that i disagree with them in any verse i am studying and my mind or my heart in not convinced with that interpretation i simply do not accept their interpretation and i try to understand it on my own ..but anyway that seldom happens . I am Arabic speaking.
