When I do my Quran homework at home, do I need to cover my head?
I am taking a Quran class and our classes require homework and assignments to bring to the next class. For homework, we have to learn the meaning of the Quran excerpt in details and also have to memorize a few pages for each class. When I do my homework, do I need to cover my head with a hijab/scarf?

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani, SunniPath Academy Teacher is it fard to wear hijab when reading qur'an @ home? In the Name of Allah, with blessings and peace on the Messenger of Allah Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah, I pray that this finds you well, and in the best of health and spirits. May Allah grant you all good and success in this life and the next. No, it is not obligatory to cover one's head when reciting the Qur'an at home. However, it would be praiseworthy--out of respect--to do so, for both women and men. And Allah alone gives success. Faraz Rabbani
- No sister, its not Obligatory in Islam to cover your head while reading Qur'an or any Islamic book but Yes, its a sign of showing respect! When you read Qur'an, when you offer Prayers, when you fast, you just cover your heads to show respect! Many women who cover their hair and dress modestly do notice that men are more respectful and people are more inquisitive about their faith, so they are "recognized" not just as decent women but also as Muslims. O Children of Adam! Wear your beautiful apparel (zeenah) at every time and place of prayer…(7:31) Muslims believe that the Qur’an tells us to cover our hair. The injunction, however, regarding covering the hair in addition to everything else is implied, not specified in the Qur’an.
