2. I don't remeber actually any haidth saying that memorizing the Quran is a must. But it's preferablle. remeber that each person in Islam has his role, Khaled bin Waleed couldn't lead prayers but he was a great defender of Islam. But i think the minimum amount of memorizing is the chapters that you'll read when you pray. however it's always preferable to memorize more
