Perhaps he's referring to how people can take a piece of knowledge that makes sense and then apply it to many other contexts without having the intelligence to consider it and shape it or change it to suit said circumstances. If so, I couldn't agree more and I'm sure many Muslims weep because of the ignorant among them who have skewed some of Mohammad's teachings in the same way.
