Why are islamic countries that break the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS allowed to remain in the UN?

Article 18. Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance. Article 19. Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.

1. Why are the U.S still allowed to be in the UN? If everyone had the right of freedom of opinion and expression why would guantanamo exist?
2. No Western country permitting abortion of it's citizens should be allowed in the UN either. Article 3. Everyone has the RIGHT TO LIFE, liberty and security of person.

8. Couldnt agree with you more- the UN is a joke. Basically if you are one of the 5 permanent members of one of their friends you can do what you like and they will veto any UN reolutions Democracy? Would be nice I think Muslim countries should leave and form their own UN- No one listens to it anyway - look at the US and the Iraq war. And BTW how do you think China fits with articles 18 and 19 or Soviet Russia which was a founding member? Have you tried wearing a hijab in a school in France one of the other permament 5? And what of India which many think will join the Big 5 - do you know there are laws banning conversion from Hinduism in Gujurat and Tamil state and that genocides have been committed in India against Sikh, Christian and Muslim minorities?

10. If nations got kicked out of the UN for violating the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the US and Israel would be long gone.

The Vatican, Italy still has a problem with men marrying women, women doctors, lawyers, dentists, and priests, and promoting the hiding of child abuse to save Rome lawsuit money.

Part of the problem is that, for some religious theists, being able to "manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance" means coercing others, killing apostates, etc. Until all religious theists understand that being told to keep their religion to themselves is *not* persecution, it's going to be hard, if not impossible, to enforce those articles. .
13. It is not wise to cut off any country from membership in the UN. Once that happens, all communication ends, and all hope of changing the situation dies. The Soviet Union was in the UN. Until they rejected Communism they were a criminal state. They murdered millions of their own countrymen and millions of people from Eastern Europe. The UN was the place where world public opinion was formed and it forced the Soviets to be concerned about their public image. The UN made Stalin and his successors realize that when people were informed about what was happening in the USSR they they would reject Communism.

16. Haha, what does the UN do anyway? It is nothing but a tool in the hands of few countries (you know which countries they are). I can only laugh at security council (rather war council) decisions/resolutions. Tell me where is democracy if veto from one country can stall any decision by the remaining members?
17. Why is the U.S.A allowed to stay in the U.N? For decades it has conducted acts against humanity and has used illegal weapons and used them on Vietnamese, North Koreans and Iraqis. It went to two wars, which the U.N security council did not accept, therefore both wars were illegal. It was the last country to allow equal rights to Africans, Indians and other Ethnic origins. It continues to support terrorism in Pakistan, Israel, Colombia etc... It interferes in countries policies and once they elect leaders that it does not approve of, it bombs them or sanctions them such as Chile (1973), Cuba, Bolivia, Angola, Iran, Sudan, Palestine, Belarus and Serbia etc... It has broken the Geneva convention of Human Rights to POW's in Guantamano, and many CIA run prisons in Europe and the Middle East. And this Article 19, is always broken by the U.S. When a leader or activist ever uses his or her freedom of speech that object U.S foreign policies, the CIA kidnap those individuals whether they are Muslim, Christian, Atheist etc... In the 1980's an Indian Tribeman placed the U.S Flag upside down and called for his country to return to him, U.S Marines killed his whole family and tortured him. Yet did he not have a freedom of opinions or speech. THE U.S, LAYS DOWN LAWS FOR THEM AND FOR EVERYONE ELSE. AND WHEN IT SEEMS THEY HAVE BROKEN THEIR OWN LAWS THEY IGNORE IT. The U.S is currently restricting media from any actual coverage of events in Iraq and Afghanistan and all media that YOU see is approved by the U.S STATE OF DEPARTMENT.
