What is your opinion on the protests against the Prophet Muhammed cartoons?

I mean there is supposed to be freedom of the press why all the commotion over some silly cartoon?

Public Comments

  1. I think that the protests are a bit excessive, but really expected. Some people in the Muslim community expect other people and groups to act and live as they do, which is rediculous since non-muslims tend to not live like muslims.
  2. I amazed by the number of muslims who apparently read Danish newspapers. Of course, they don't. Those cartoons appeared not last week, not last month but in Denmark in OCTOBER. They, plus some more offensive ones that never appeared in any newspaper havebeen circulated by troublemakers to mosques around the world where more trouble makers have been using them as an excuse for violence. It is only because of these troublemakers that anyone has heard of the cartoons. Its these troublemakers that caused the cartoons to be republished by other Euopean newspapers. You have to ask yourself aren't the people who circulate the cartoons as guilty as the newspaper who published them in the first place. They are trouble makers with an agenda.
  3. They are taking things way overboard. I respect that they are upset but c'mon!!!
  4. Obviously it ofends muslim people. But then again the guy is a fictional character and muslim sucks.
  5. when its about islam its a freedom but when someone try to say some thing about jewish there will be a disaster cause it s a war against islam, but we will win i promise u
  6. There's a growing number of muslim fanatics out there that will use anything for propaganda.
  7. I asked a related question, and most people that answered seem to agree that it's ok (legally) to commit blasphemy. I find it amusing that it is illegal to assert "Britney Spears is a drug addict" without proof and yet there's really nothing that stops people from saying something defamatory towards God.
  8. free, My opinion is similar to that of most folks who posted a reply. I think that muslims, who when asked are quite sure that their religion is THE only way and that all others are doomed to an afterlife of hellish punishment, are for some reason SO concerned about how people feel about their religion...if you have GOD on your side, what do you care what mere humans say? But it ain't that way...check mhmd's reply above. "We will win" win what? Haven't you already "won?" Or are you speaking of the war militant Islam is waging on the world, by use of plastique explosives and Improvised Explosive Devices? Blowing up innocent people who gives not a DAMN about Islam, Judaism or Christians, folks who are poor and all they care about is going to work or coming home from work so they can feed their families. Yeah, lets blow THEM up...let's kill without impunity...that'll make the world LOVE us! I say not. The only thing you'll ever win MHMD, is a world of hurt. You may dream your perverted dreams of virgins as you kill people who have no qualms with you...in this world you will not prevail. This I guarantee...you, your friends and your GOD!
  9. First, Muslims weren't responsible for this, Muslim terrorists/Muslim criminals call them what you want, however, you DO NOT insult a whole religion and its believers for the actions of the minority. Haven't any Christians, Jews, etc. committed any crimes? Does that give anyone the right to insult them through their holy symbols?? We may hear quite a lot about the fight against Muslim terrorists, but what about Christian terrorists? There was a time that three of the FBI's top ten most wanted criminals were antiabortion terrorists - Christians, one and all, committing acts of terrorism in an effort to promote their religious beliefs. Why have they dropped off the radar? What about the Oklahoma City bombing or have Americans chosen to forget this since it was not a Muslim repsonsible?! What about the Ku Klux Klan? Did someone discover that they were Muslims too!! As far as I last checked they were Christians, so let's all make fun of Prophet Jesus because of them?!!! Was it Jesus who taught them to do that? Are they representative of the true teachings and beliefs of Christianity? Absolutely not! Same goes for Muslims who claim to be and true followers! (I could also list you hundreds of other acts of violence and killings done but I will let you do the REST of the homework) Excuse me, but making cartoons of Americans is very VERY different than making cartoons of Christians or of Prophet Jesus! Get me one Muslim who ever even thought of creating a cartoon of Jesus, Moses or any other religion? You will not find any, even though Muslims and Israelis have had their problems for ages, Muslims have never made fun of the Jewish religion/prophet. They can make fun of Israelis or Israel as a nation, their actions but nothing directly relating to their religion. There is no problem if anyone wants to draw cartoons of Arabs or even a particular sheikh (equivalent to priest) but there is a point that you should not cross and some things you just have to learn to respect and stay away from. It might seem as NO big deal for you but before making such a statement first understand Islam and Muslim beliefs. What was the point of these cartoons? Insulting Muslims? Bravo, they did! So, was it worth it, that maybe it might have placed a smile on a few people but on the account of hurting and insulting millions of others????!
  10. I agree with the protesters, but I think that the protests and fights should be ended by now. I would also be anygry if such cartoons were published of Jesus! But I wonder why did this issue emerge in February since the caricatures were published in September. Haven't they noticed them so far?...
