Why were images of the prophet muhammed not allowed to be shown on South Park?

It seems pretty hypocritical not to show it, when images of God and other religious beliefs are.

  1. free speech is not global idea yet...
  2. it is not against christianity to show images of the pope. it's completely heretical to show any depiction of the prophet mohammed. okay, the virgin mary bleeding out of her a-r-s-e was pretty offensive ;) but the catholic church has icons of saints all over the place. it's entirely different. ALSO, the one thing the u.s. finally had going for us that kept the cartoon riots from erupting here was that we were one of the countries that refused to publish the offensive comic strip when this was a controversy several months ago. it would be completely irresponsible for any media to bring this up again and jump into the fire. it's the right call. it only incites violence and hatred.
  3. They would have been allowed, they were using the episode to stab at Comedy Central because they wouldn't allow any more episodes bashing scientology. Chef walked out because they were making fun of scientology. they just changed the network from CC to FOX so people wouldn't think they were biting the hand that feeds them.
  4. network caved, you know what they did show right.
  5. because allah said about prohphet mohamed he is the best creature he creat so u r not going to deform it and this is not allowed
  6. They did show the episode once or twice,a few years ago. Mohammed joins forces with Jesus and [Moses?] to do battle with illusionist David Blaine. Not many Muslims objected though, because Mohammed was not potrayed in an insulting manner. It seems that Tom Cruise was more touchy!
  7. Depictions of Muhammad usually refer to drawings of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and can be a contentious matter. Oral and written descriptions are readily accepted by all traditions of Islam, while Muslims differ as to whether or not visual depictions of Muhammad are permissible: Some Muslims believe that to prevent idolatry and shirk, or ascribing partners to God, visual depictions of Muhammad and other prophets of Islam should be prohibited. Other Muslims believe respectful depictions should be allowed. Both sides have produced great Islamic art — the aniconists through calligraphy and arabesque, the pictorialists through book illustration and architectural decoration. The vast majority of Muslims are hurt or shocked by negative portrayals of Muhammad, whether spoken, written, drawn, or filmed, see Muslim veneration for Muhammad.
  8. The producer of South Park is a gutless, incompetent coward who should be fired. That show makes money off CONTROVERSY. The producer who made that decision clearly has no clue on what side the bread is buttered. Even if the cartoon sparked massive riots in the Muslim world (it would), Comedy Central would still rake in the cash.
  9. i don't know but it would be really funny
