Why did prophet Muhammed allowed his companions to eat the food tainted with flies?

I read a prophetical statement from prophet Muhammed that tells his companions: "if a fly fell in your food, dunk the fly in the food, throw it away, and continue eating your food!". It also says that teh reason for "dunking" teh fly is because one wing has the disease and the other has the cure! Did the modern science approve that eating a food tainted with flies is healthy? I think science tells us that BOTH wings of the fly have disease with NO CURE on any wing.

3. I believe what you are referring to is water. And it is not flies, it is only one fly. I do not know of the authenticity of this but I have heard it before. Although it may sound disgusting, there were people living in the middle of the desert with rarely any water around trying to survive. Many of us would probably eat the fly too. Must be careful of what you read, as you are well aware, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) has a lot of enemies, even more so than prophet Moses or Jesus, but that is how it always is. And I would say if it against science, then it is not authentic since the Qur'an is full of scientific facts.
4. I dont know where you got that, but the rule is simple..... if something is harmful for one to consume, than it is forbidden to eat or drink it. That is not a true tradition..... someone trying to make fun of Islam prob. just made it up.
