How is the Quran a perfect book when it relies on hadiths to explain how to pray?

Prayer is a mandatory practice for Muslims and one of the pillars of Islam so why is the proper way to pray not explained in detail in the Quran? Why must a Muslim learn to pray from a hadith rather than the Quran? This is something that has bothered me greatly for sometime now, can you please shed some light? It is very confusing and disheartening. Yes, this is a serious question for me.

  1. r u serious? Quraan is the book that told us to follow the prophet and his Hadiths not the opposite!
  2. its one of the many problems with the abrahamic religions sami nope i speak only the truth sami what is truth? truth is what you percieve to be right the abrahamic religions are not right you are clouded by faith
  3. If you r really that serious, have you ever bothered to find the same in Hadith. Your question is a clear manifestation of your sheer IGNORANCE !! But the ONLY ones who are granted access to it are the sincere ones, who believe in "God Alone, Quran Alone".
  4. Quran DOES show the general idea of Salat, it does not go into great depth. The Quran is most basic and straight forward guideline. One of those guidelines is to listen to the prophet. He was a living breathing example of life lived by the Quran. He knew how to pray and so he taught us.
  5. does it tell you how to eat, or how to use the washroom??? --------------------- <Mr. Roeper> just in your dreams and deepest wishes... -------------------------- <Santa Clatz> yes THEY ARE explained in hadith, so, that only shows that you have no idea what you are talking about. and that you dont read, you just rush to wild guess conclusions which makes you look ignorant. again, ask somthing interesting, so youll get interesting answers. ------------------------ <Mr. Roeper> nop you speak your mind, which could or could not be the truth ---------------------- <Santa Clatz> dont get angry, did not mean to hurt your feelings, seriously... just read and debate later, cause i know that you wouldnt say such things if you knew. we know exactly how the Prophet used to eat and how he used to eat. there is a Hadith written on large characters on the entrance of a hospital in germany which the meaning is "1/3 for food(solid) 1/3 for water(liquid) and leave the 1/3 for air(gas)" and another one: "we do not eat til we are hungry and when we eat we do not get stuffed or overeat" and so on... so as u can see, very scientific stuff that has nothing to do with sitting on the ground or flying in the air... those are just Arab's custums and habits that have nothing to do with a logical religion... ----------------------- <Mr. Roeper> truth is what is proven by scientific method to be true and fact, otherwise every single one of us will have its own truth and universe. if you think im clouded by faith, i think that your judgement is clouded by human ego.
  6. Not just prayers. Lots of Islamic rulings. Eating food and using the washroom are human instincts, not explained in hadiths, or related to Islam in any sense. The fact that a Muslim draws such a comparison show a lot about Muslims.
  7. The Qur'an is a book with no contradictions or illogical statements. It makes prayer mandatory, of course. However, how is it imperfect because it doesn't explain the exact movements of prayer? The Prophet (sa) wasn't just sent as a Messenger, but also as the perfect exampler. He was the example on how the Qur'an should be practiced. Let's say another Muslim and I have a discrepancy on what the proper prayer method is. Let's say we both decide to do what we feel is right after true reflection. Even if we arrive at different conclusions, so what? Our prayer is still to Allah and He will accept it if He knows we did our best. This isn't something like the Trinity that isn't even explained in the Bible but is the fundamental core of Christianity - without which modern day Christianity would be obliterated. The Qur'an is the perfect guide and Muhammad (sa) is the perfect exampler. This is nothing to feel disheartened about. Love for all, hatred for none
  8. To dovetail into the1qfactor's point, the Quran itself says: "Verily, you have in the Prophet of Allah an excellent model, for him who hopes to meet Allah and the Last Day and who remembers Allah much." (33:22) So the Quran itself tells us to look to the Holy Prophet (sa) as a model of how Islam should be practiced and the Hadith and Sunnah are the records of this model. Hope that helps.
  9. Haven't you heard about "Quran only Muslims " who are rejecting the hadiths and base everything in Islam only on Quran ? Quran is perfect and anyone claims otherwise then he is negating the verses which say Quran is complete and fully details . Here are some sites for Quran alone Muslims where there are many details : http://www.submission.org/ http://free-minds.org/
  10. The Quran is perfect book of imperfections.
