Why are all Islamic Countries in such bad shape?

Islam is based on principles. These dictatorships are doing nothing good for their people,and on top of it all, they are claiming they are treating the public this way in the name of Allah. Allah swt taught muslims to be kind, treat people respectuflly, and give them rights. Give WOMEN RIGHTS. Then how come these so called Islamic countries are not following the Quran. How come they are not following what Propthet Muhammed did. Why, in the prophets time, women used to travel on camelback, so why can't they drive in Saudia Arabia. These countries are truly UNISLAMIC, and i think all muslims should openly come out and state this, because as far as im concerned, all those bad Islamic countries are doing, is garnering NEGATIVE PUBLICITY FOR ISLAM. P.s --> i am not talking about Turkey, Malasia, and other democratic muslim countries.. i am talking about those dictatorships.. Agree or disagree. all opinions welcome And yes, i am a proud muslimah=] MY POINT IS : Islam is not the problem, its the people. The people are the ones who are messing up the message of Islam. Muslims have a tendency to cause chaos wherever they go, even when they are a minority. What else would you expect when they have their own countries? By far, Turkey is the most secular country with a huge Muslim majority. However, as of recently, secularism in Turkey is being threatened and fundamentalists are gaining more power. Turkey is fighting very hard to keep the country secular, but religiosity is becoming popular.
Fundamentalism is inherently opposed to social progress. Faith is best kept separate from the sphere of government and social policy, or the inevitable result is inequality, repression and ultimately disorder. All kinds of faith ought to be private and personal, and organized religion certainly shouldn't have the kind of influence it has in fundamentalist governments like those of Iran and Saudi Arabia. The religious extremists controlling those countries should be as vociferously opposed as the Christian fundamentalist movement in the United States and elsewhere.

you are saying this Cox of the influence of media they show bad things more than good things that they could get publicity and advertisement try to get over it OK we are not in good shape we are improving around the world specially Malaysia and Indonesia the big countries like us and Britain also there are some Muslims contributing their share in the country development i live in Pakistan here people miss use there right and try to impose there ideas on other people and government then govt have to do something to get them out

actually many Islamic countries are in great shape. all the ones ripping america off with expensive gas prices. they are filthy rich, take Dubai for example. Why is america paying so much money to the Islamic countries who want to kill us??? we are paying our enemies!

Well, its not the religion's fault, it is more in the fault of tradition. They cannot accept the idea of democracy after many years of a monarchy. They want a strong leader to lead them back to the golden age of islam that everyone is saying, 'Oh how wonderful' 'savior of civilazation.' etc. Christianity had its bad times, like when Europe was in the middle ages.
They stop what they are doing five times a day to pray! What does that do to productivity? They treat women like animals. But more than that, because they cannot have any input or control in their government, they have staggering corruption and that means poverty for those who do not belong on the inside. The corruption extends itself to the Mosques where there is competition to see who is the best Muslim. This is a breeding ground for the fanatics who do criminal things in the name of Allah just to show the rest how righteous they are. So you have countries that block out contributions by women, governments that are overwhelmingly corrupt and religious fanatics running around killing people and blowing up things so they can go to a paradise, which really doesn't exist.
Agred and then some..they have a hypocritical attitude that Dictaes do as I say do not as I do mentality. It was better for women and all of their society in those cultures in the 15th Century or thereabouts, in education, science, math and innovativeness...what they are practicing now is a bastardized form of Islam. Based on Machismo, arrogance, greed, selfishness, no room for advancement and hatred. You know, it is indeed a shame (and a sham) that organized religions use their tax exempt corporation to tear down and not to build up. In Christianity, so few people use the spoken word of their Lord Jesus Christ, but instead follow the words of the Bible to justify their prejudices, bigotry, and hateful ways; which again are in COMPLETE contrast to Christ's words. Yet they call themselves CHRISTIAN. We could just say it was ignorance, but it is in reality just giving true Christianity a bad name and makes it look so very hypocritical. Well they make a lot of money off it and it is all tax free and that is truly what they want, so you have to give them credit. Therefore it is not only the Nation of Islam that is at fault here, but I certainly agree with you that the Muslim populous should stand up and shout out against such travesties along with the so called Christians.
If you were to exclude countries like; Malaysia, UAE, Brunai, Kuwait, & Qatar. Then this clearly shows the problem is not Islam but dictatorship/ currepted governments. Those Islamic countries I just mentioned are thriving in almost every thing. Many people from many countries, including Europeans dream of moving & working over there.
